Post your quick review of Virtual ][.
Email me when Virtual ][ is updated.
Virtual ][ is a program that emulates the Apple ][, Apple ][+ and Apple //e computers. It runs on Macintosh, under Mac OS X 10.2 or better. If you want to find out more, read the Virtual ][ help file.
What's New:
Version 3.0:
- Added emulation of the Epson FX-80 printer (available in OSX
10.3 "Panther" or better).
- The state of a virtual machine can be saved so it can continue
to run later on.
- Included support for the RamWorks card on the Apple //e.
This card gives you up to 8 MB of memory, and replaces the "64K /
80 column card", which is now obsolete and no longer
supported.
- The program now includes a number of different character sets
ROM's and you can add your own character sets as well.
- Simplified the installation procedure for ROM image files.
Previously ROM files had to have specific names; now the program
automatically searches for a ROM file suitable for the machine to
be emulated.
- The "phosphor" color of the monochrome screen can now be
changed to any color; it used to be "green only".
- The video refresh rate of the emulated monitor can now be
configured.
- When doing a cold restart of the emulated machine
(ctrl-command-reset), the disks now stay in the disk drives.
- Improved compatibility of the mouse emulation; software like
Apple //e Desktop now runs fine.
- Fixed a bug that made it impossible to remove a diskette image
from a configuration.
Requirements:
Mac OS X 10.2 or later.

Comment by ByeByeBushhole: I would give a squirrel's nuts for an emulator of the 512K era Mac. Congrats to the folks keeping the past in the present. (3/27/2004, Version: 2.6)

Comment by Notta Looser: If this thing were any better I would buy it a ring and make it my woman. Anyone who cannot figure out how to use it needs a refresher course in the basics, do not blame your inability to function in society on the developer of software. It really isn't that complicated just read the directions ! Nice App ! Keep up the good work and forget the opinions of the malcontents (12/14/2003, Version: 2.5.1)

Review by jasonk: Incredible emulation program. I don't know why anyone is having trouble. You need to download an Apple // ROM, rename it, add it to the folder, select it in 'Insert Disk', then select 'Reset.' Then, presto!, you have yourself an Apple //. (12/13/2003, Version: 2.5.1)
