就職活動まとめ （その１）
0. 口上
二ヶ月くらいに渡って続けてきた就職活動もやっと終わってくれたわけだが、細々としたことを忘れてしまう前に、就職活動について自分なりにまとめたものを、文章としてざっと書き下しておきたい。
来年以降に就職活動をする後輩たちが参考してくれればということで:-)
想定する読者は、狭くは来年以降の我が母校（電気通信大学）の後輩たち。広くは就職活動をする理工系の大学生・大学院生。文系理系で事情の異なる部分も多く、文系の学生にとってはあまり参考にならないかと思います。
1. 時系列で
先ずは、ぼくの就職活動の履歴を、ここまでの流れを時間に沿ってまとめる。
だいたい次のようになるか。あまり模範的なものとは言えないと思う……というか、今から思うとこうしていれば良かったと思うところが少なくない。どうすれば良かったと思うかは次の節で。
・冬頃
年の暮れあたりから就職活動を意識するようになる。
この時点では博士に進むという選択肢も考えていないではなかった。しかし、色々と情報を収集し、最終的に博士は選択肢から除外し、修士で就職することを決定する。
（博士への進学については別の項目で）
「何かしないとな～」と思い、とりあえずリクナビに登録だけする。登録だけしてあとは放置する。
自己分析やら業界研究といったこともこれといってせず、就職活動としての進展はほとんど無いまま過ごす。
・２月中旬
リクナビで目に付いた企業にエントリーを始める。
ただし、企業についてあまり知っているわけではないので、自然と「名前知ってるところに適当にエントリーしてみました」って感じのラインナップになってしまい萎える。
このあたりからどのような職種を志望するべきか考えるようになる。
大きく分けて、「研究職」と「ソフトウェア開発（プログラマやシステムエンジニア等々）」の２つの道があり、どちらを採るべきか悩む。
・３月上旬
学内説明会が頻繁に開催されるようになる。
興味のある企業にはもちろんであるが、興味のない企業であってもなるべく出席するように心がける。
2chの就職板に常駐するようになる。雑談やしょうもないネタスレを見て息抜きをするのと、志望する企業や業界のスレッドを見てふーんとか言うのと。
「みんなの就職活動日記」を知ったのもこの頃。あのサイトがあるとないとでは大違いで、インターネットは偉大だなとおもう。
あれこれ考えた結果、研究職はどうでも良くなる。
ソフトウェアやシステムを作るのを仕事にしようと決め、そういう仕事をできる企業で、良さそうなところを探す。
・３月中旬
引き続き学内説明会に出席。
このあたりから企業の選考が本格的に始まり、エントリーシート書きに追われるようになる。
また、学外の説明会に出席するため必要となり、ようやくリクルートスーツを買う。
・３月下旬～４月中旬
就職活動最盛期。筆記試験や面接のためにあちこちに出掛ける。超絶めんどくさい。うんざり。
mixi日記が就職活動の話題ばかりになる。
・４月下旬
ヤフーと日立製作所に内定が出る。
この２つに内定が出た時点で、他の選考をすべて辞退する。就職活動終了。
時系列に沿った就職活動の履歴としては、当blogの以下のエントリもあります。
受けた企業の名前や細かな進捗も分かるので、これはこれで参考になる点があるかもしれません。
