All this news of Code:Veronica kind of makes me wish we see Zeno in a cameo. Specifically if Wesker was the one who instigated the cloning project and authorized it and Zeno was groomed since birth to be Wesker’s “heir” (either as a surrogate body or someone who followed the family business and was fanatically loyal to him.)

It was hard to believe anyone with Wesker’s genetics was capable of smiling and looking adorable but that was Zeno right now.

lol I freaking love seeing Jake and Zeno bonding and you just KNOW they’re going to be stuck to the hip. Piers just being a completely ball of squish that Zeno loves cuddling.

And thank you so much! It’s hard writing Zeno close to canon since he has yet to have any canon but I’m so glad the way I write him is so accepted!

Thankfully Zeno was close by. He made it back to Piers as quickly as he could though a BSAA agent…

“Agh..AGH..” Piers tried to control the pain but he couldn’t control the infection within his body. He was losing himself. He was losing his mind and his sanity. Nothing he tried worked. Self control didn’t help nor did the inhibitors. They stopped working over time.
He slowly took a few steps towards Zeno hoping that he could help him. He slowly reached his arm out towards him before slowly falling to the ground.
As the inhibitor was injected into his neck Piers’ eyes slowly looked up at Zeno as he continued to take deep breaths to try to control the pain.
Although as it had started to work throughout his body Piers suddenly slowly began to lose consciousness as the infection started to temporarily reverse which left him in his human form but he was unconscious as a side effect.It would take time but he would eventually wake up.
Although a few hours passed and he eventually woke up in a cot in a tent that belonged to the B.S.A.A. and he glanced around. His head was hurting and he felt slightly nauseous but that was usually normal for him.
“This looks like a base.” He said to himself before glancing over at a couple of agents nearby before trying to stand from the cot. His legs were asleep but he tried to move around so they could wake up but his legs were still asleep and he almost fell before gripping onto a nearby table. He stood there and let out a low sigh. He then remembered something before quickly looking around.
“Wait a minute..Zeno?!” He shouted.

Thankfully Zeno was close by. He made it back to Piers as quickly as he could though a BSAA agent with a gun aimed at him kept watch. Zeno had cuffs on him….evidently he still wasn’t trusted among the “opposing” teams no matter what he did to try to prove himself.

Zeno, even with being under EXTREMELY heavy surveillance, went to Piers, doing what he could to help him up.

Zeno isn’t a virgin but it wasn’t really his choice in losing his virginity. He had to be the representative of Connections once he was deemed too defective to keep as part of the Z-series yet too much money had been used on him to justify killing off the entire line completely.

( Putting it under a read-more because the between the lines for Zeno is horrific and part of why he doesn’t trust anyone.)

As the glorified salesman, Zeno had to submit to potential clients and do whatever was necessary lock in a sale of bioweapons. More than once he had been dragged into a room my prospective clients and was ordered to lie down and be still.

It happened so many times that Zeno just became numb and for a long time associated sex with transactions and pain so he reacted to someone genuinely wanting to get close to him.

If it wasn’t sex, people who hated Wesker would pay to have their fun with Zeno. Nobody could tell what happened to him because his regeneration healed the outside but Zeno withdrew until he was more or less on autopilot.

The only person who was allowed to see Zeno at his lowest points was Gideon and Zeno’s warped mind wanted to bond with Victor in the “big strong man save me” kind of way. Until his own weakness was used against him in horrific ways and Zeno refused to trust anyone ever again.

Oh, what a pitiful sight. It still shocked Zeno seeing how... utterly dejected his twin was since getting 'cured' with Elpis. The very virus that gave them their superhuman powers was also what was killing them slowly but seeing the horrific scarring where his other's Raccoon City Syndrome had spread, pale skin marred with what looked more like high degree burns couldn't help but wrench some kind of sorrow in Zeno's heart, seeing the other's terrible state.

His brother. Human. He still couldn't quite believe it but the signs were there. The scent, how much smaller his twin seemed standing there. Afraid at what he'd become and how powerless he was as a result of it.

No wonder he was shaking. Zeno might have felt the same were he in the same place.

"Immune? To total reinfection? You're quite sure they were telling you the truth and not what they wanted you to hear?" He asks. It's the only thing he can say in that situation, holding out for the tiniest crumb of hope in that they were lying. They had to be, maybe to discourage his twin from finding a way to regain his powers and become a threat to humanity like they were, or maybe because... because...

Because maybe it was true.

Elpis, Spencer's last creation designed to of eradicate all progenitor-based viruses and bioweapons. It made sense given how prolific viruses were and the countless enemies Spencer had made over the years. Elpis being his final fuck you to the world was just the cherry on top of the rotten cake that was his legacy, and his twin was yet another casualty of the madman's schemes.

He glances into the other's pale eyes, ones of fierce gold calmly meeting those of pale blue.

"... Maybe, were it to be the case, we could get you something else. Cadou perhaps, or a Nemesis parasite? If you hate being human so much, that doesn't mean you can't find some other way of reinfecting yourself. It would just be... well, different."

” I read the files.”

He had a copy right there just in case. Zeno passed it over to his twin and there were photos, documents, summaries. Every bit of Zeno had been examined and the whole process had been utterly humiliating.

But then Zeno revealed something else.

“….When I was injected with Progenitor as a baby, I wasn’t developing correctly. So Connections had me infected with a modified version of the mold fungus.

Progenitor suppressed the mold and the mold stabilized the progenitor enough to keep me alive….”

But with Elpis destroying Progenitor…it meant one thing.

“ Now I just have the mold in me. And I don’t know what it’s going to do to me…”

Zeno gave Victor a deadpan look. That’s one thing he preferred with Victor over literally anyone…

Zeno, so stoic, ruthless and proud….reduced to someone lost and confused and just….trying to find himself in a new nightmare.
The good doctor heaved a long, heavy sigh.
“If you are relying on the likes of me, the future is doomed.” He wasn’t even trying to make fun of Zeno, Victor was truly concerned when he saw a depressed botanist on one side and then he would turn around to be met with a clone having an midlife crisis.
“I will not be tolerating the spiraling talk tonight,” Victor said simply. No cruelty, no roughness. Just being plain and simple with his words. “You already have the tools you need to make your own path, but if you are too blind to see it…”
Victor simply shook his head, full of pity now for Zeno.

Zeno gave Victor a deadpan look. That’s one thing he preferred with Victor over literally anyone else when it came to stuff like this; Victor wasn’t going to pull punches.

“ The future is already fucked.”

He visibly bristled at Victor’s words.

“ What tools? What path? Fucking look at me!”

How the mighty had fallen. From a stoic powerhouse with an iron spine to someone a mere shadow and scared of everything around him.

He had read the files himself….and even his limited knowledge on virology was able to pick up on things. The biggest one being that repeated attempts to reinfect Zeno’s samples all ended in failure.

Zeno had been worried that Piers’ infection was going to mutate and it did. But he had had the foresight of having BSAA at least yank out some of his blood to see if his antibodies could be used as an effective suppressant that was stronger than the inhibitors.

Zeno took out an injector full of the antibodies and showed it to him.

“ I had Chris and his team send my blood to have the progenitor antibodies synthesized. I’m going to inject into you right now so your body can fight off the infection.”

He held Piers as he gently injected the serum into him, resting his nose against the other’s hair. Making sure Piers knew he wasn’t alone.
