Recently, I decided to make a blog to document my journey with Pixquare, both ups and downs. I hope this would be a favourite place for Pixquare and pixel art lovers to stop by and enjoy some pleasant pixel art material!
August has been a lovely month, so let’s join me for a recap!

1. Pixquare’s Contest:
In July, I hosted a small contest for Pixquare’s users to showcase their pixel artwork made with the app on Twitter, and within a month, I received more than 30 artworks from talented artists all around the world!
The two winning artworks belong to Mossy and Chili. Their work was so detailed and full of life, and were warmly welcomed by the pixel art community 🥳
Other artworks were also impressive and showcased a lot of personality, and I appreciate all the efforts the artists have put into the artwork. I also feel so happy to see how Pixquare can help them draw pixel art comfortably on their iPads and will try to host more contests like this in the future.
2. Feature Updates:
Let's talk about updates! August was a productive month with 3 major releases, each come with exciting new features & enhancements, including:
Japanese Language Support: Many thanks to Naocraf for helping me with the Japanese translation for Pixquare! Arigatōgozaimasu 😊
Custom Theme: Now you can use a dark theme or Kimonade's unique theme (thank you for your kind contribution)! Hope to see more user-generated themes in Pixquare in the future!
Handy Enhancements: Other updates include Canvas flip, Color palette import from files (.px, .aseprite, and images), streak counter, etc. Let me know which features do you guys expect to see in September in the comment section! Plus, our website and App Store images got a makeover. Check it out if you haven’t!
3. Yayyy! Pixquare was mentioned in other places!
I’m grateful that more pixel artists have mentioned Pixquare in their videos on Youtube this month. This means a lot to me so I want to thank them here again! In case you have not seen it, you can check them out here:
Pixquare Tutorial by Uchimama: Thank you Uchimama for creating a detailed and helpful tutorial for Pixquare’s new joiners! The video shares many useful tips about how to use all the art tools in Pixquare! I’m so excited about her next Pixquare animation tutorial, hopefully I can see it soon!
MiniSunny's Timelapse: Check out MiniSunny's timelapse of her bright and colourful artwork made with Pixquare! It’s mesmerizing to watch the whole process of someone using my app! Thank you so much Sunny!
Mr. Uma's Streaming Video: Another pixel artist and game developer, Uma, recently mentioned Pixquare as a pixel art editor for iOS devices at the beginning of his streaming video. It's awesome to know he's digging the app, and I hope his shoutout leads more Japanese artists to discover Pixquare! 🚀
4. Life Update
Last week, my girlfriend and I had a short trip to Aspen, Colorado. After months of grinding away on both Pixquare and my day job, it felt great to be with nature 😁 Oh, and it’ll be cool to see Maroon Bells as a pixel art piece someday.
5. Sneak Peek: Pixquare in September
As August wraps up, the spotlight is on September! I’ve got exciting new features and experiences lined up for the app. Stay tuned for my next post – I'll update it soon!
