really fun but I got one shot a few times which is frustrating

I feel like I’m gonna cry image.png

This game was very fun to play, even with how short it was. I would spend money on this game if it was longer and had a hard mode, as most of the challenges are pretty easy.

Good concept, 9/10.

9/10 would be a 10/10 if it got endless mode or shmthing

i don't know what to say.... IT'S AN AMAZING GAME!!!!

I really loved it since I'm working on a deck building game myself. I can see a bright future for this one.

Love the game so far, unique art style, fun gameplay. I like blackjack and it evokes that feeling well. I like the upgrade/symbol system and progression with level mechanics.

One thing that feels off to me is The Sword feels very overtuned. Higher max than some other elites let him overcome even perfect hands, multiple +2, sometimes even +4 damage cards, and if it perfects or you bust even once it can one shot you with a good hand. More than that, it seems like it has a lot of low value cards that let it very often hit higher hand values without busting at all, which feels very annoying.

Additionally, the dangerous card upgrade never seems to give me an option to upgrade anything when I pick it. Unsure if this is a bug or if I have no upgrades possible.

Also, while playing the curse deck, it seems like the +1 strength per curse card does not properly activate with curses.

new update sick and all but lost ALL my process :/

Came back to see the update and it definitely looks good. Though that sword enemy is ridiculous.

TWO EXTRA LIVES. Cards 2-6 are extra damage sigils and card 1 is an ace upgrade. EASY MODE SO 2 REROLLS. Finally max 13 hand combo with 3 extra damage symbols [14 damage] against a 8hp enemy.

WE STILL LOST.

Finesse doesn't increase combo even when the hand difference is quite large.

I love the new update! I had already completed the previous version a few times and got all of the decks, so I'm glad OI get to play again!

edit: dear lord do I just suck or is the sword impossible to beat now? TvT

Same the new monsters are neat

Good question. Want to ask the same thing. JUST LOOK AT THIS!

TWO EXTRA LIVES. Cards 2-6 are damage only and card 1 is an ace upgrade. EASY MODE SO 2 REROLLS.

Finally max 13 hand combo with 3 extra damage symbols [14 damage] against a 8hp enemy.. GENUINELY SO MAD AT THIS.

First try :P Really evocative artstyle, intriguing push your luck mechanics. It's like the goth brother of Quacks of Quedlinburg :D

(+1)

Quacks was one of our initial references, very good catch !
It was supposed to be a bag building game with runes.

(+1)

I really love this game and keep coming back to play it.
Itch.io is my preferred platform so I won't be using Steam. Will the game ever become available for download from Itch? Thank you so much. Love this game.

(+1)

Hello! thank you for the kind words!

The idea is to focus on steam until the game release, then do an itch version.

At the very least, keep a free version of the demo here. Not sure about the full paid version though.

Very intriguing game, good job! :)

THIS GAME IS INCREDIBLE!!

Gorgeous art style, the music is great, it's incredible fun... 11/10 :D

INCREDIBLE GAME!

For such a popular genre, this game is very unique and one of my favorites I've seen.

First off, when is this coming to steam? I'd wishlist it asap.

Then, some issues:

When drawing a card from the pack, I got multiple copies of it (or drew the same card multiple times), either way it should be more clear that you get multiple copies of a card or prevent drawing the same card.

As others have mentioned, you can bust the first turn without any input :/

Finally, curses are really annoying - when getting them it changes a 1/6th of your deck to a curse, so you cannot have multiple types, otherwise you'll bust every time. This is just a suggestion, but you could make it so you offer two cards to be "sacrificed" or something and they get a random curse, to make it easier to control what's in your deck.

Overall, love the game, love the art style (although the map is very cluttered) and can't wait keep playing this!

(1 edit) (+1)

I love the game but there is a bit of some things I would like to be fixed:

1. Like 3 times I busted at the start of my turn.

2. When changing your card I got the same one every time I changed it (it was the damaging one).

3. I got two damage cards at the start of my turn.

A really cool balatro inspired game!

Solid gameplay with a good variety of upgrades, status effects, and card decks for you to choose, allowing for some interesting builds and strategies!

I also vibe with the art style a lot! it definitely gives the game a memorable and distinct visual identity!

Though i will say, i'm a bit disappointed we don't actually get to see the skeleton at the beach after escaping lol

Anyway, jokes aside.

This is a really solid game, and i can't wait to see what's planned for the future!

(+3)

Having easy access to the information of how many cards are in your deck + the undrawn count of specific cards makes the game quite easy. Information is power and I feel this game needs to make you earn for that power.

Aside from the difficulty, everything about this is absolutely wonderful. The art direction is great, the gameplay has amazing potential.

8.75/10

Pretty good. Decent art, simple rules, clear instructions. If anything, though, it's a fair bit too easy. I won on my first try in less than 15 minutes. Perhaps it's luck, but I was never significantly punished for bad choices and the sort of simplified gameplay offered the enemies no recourse to my oppressive style. 7/10

Awesome stuff! You really nailed the atmosphere. I finally got through all the decks on hardcore; it was a fun challenge! I'm starting to feel really bad for THE IMP... Really excited to see what comes next; I would totally pay for an expanded version of this!

Wanted to mention a few recurring bugs:

The codex still reads "You have not used this deck yet" for all decks except the Starter Deck.

Lucky can trigger while returning a card, but it gives the card that would have reached perfect before returning the card.

The "small upgrade" chapter displays 1 and 2 as options for "THE MASTER's DECK," even when you don't have any.

(+2)

That was super fun! Took me like 3 or 4 attempts to beat but I was so happy when I finally go the final boss down.

(+4)

Yo this game is lowkey fire its art style is good and its gameplay is really addictive and replayable too. I would love to see more upgrades and cards and maybe some more floors after the current final boss? I liked it a lot tho

(+1)

This game is sooo fun! I keep playing it again and again! I have beaten all the bosses on normal and I'm excited to try a higher difficulty. Totally addictive in the best way! Test your luck! Thank you so much.

(+1)

I like the game, it plays well, seems correctly balanced, and the core of it is fun to play. I even did a Hardcore Foil Deck run! I thought that was the coolest and hardest thing to do, till I saw the utter bull of the Master Deck. Ugh, I get shivers just thinking of that mess.

On the other hand, it's less heavily focused areas clearly have some issues.

Let's start with the reason I'm making a comment instead of just sending a bug report on the red bug button. To my knowledge, it works. Whether when I press send it actually sent I have no way of knowing. No 'This has been sent!' message or some such message popped up. However, significantly more annnoying is that after sending it, everything I've written for the bug report, STAYS on the bug report. Now I'm not sure how it receives bug reports. Ideally, it would reject identical reports, and would be capable of receiving multiple reports from the same session. However the lack of text clearing dissuades me from the idea that the coding is 'ideal'.

Speaking of ideal, let's talk about why I was sending a bug report in the first place. I originally intended to copy paste the already written bug report, but it is impossible to copy from the game. Not an uncommon phenomena, and not a complaint on my part. After all, in an ideal world I would have no reason to copy paste in any case. Here it is:

TITLE : Codex: Decks; Incorrect Status

WHAT HAPPENED? :

In Codex: Decks, the starter deck is correctly described, but every other deck says 'You have not used this deck yet'. Ive tried winning on easy, on normal, on hardcore, and losing, all with a mix of Old poker, Sword deck, Master deck and Foil deck. Yet seemingly nothing can convince the codex that I've played a different deck.

Reproduction Steps:

1. Get a different deck

2. Play it (win or lose, no matter)

3. Check Codex: Decks

4. Be astounded at a lack of tracking

END

I hope you enjoyed that, it required quite a bit of tab switching. However, I will not be doing all that for the next bug.

In Codex: Enemies, the tracking seems a bit off. For example, I have encounters for 'The Guard' at 3, wins at 2, and losses at 0. Now, I could accept the difference if I had at some point quit mid way the Guard fight. And yet, in not one of many runs, have I quit mid way a fight. Bizzare, but not a very important statistic, so I simply wanted to point it out.

This one will not be a bug, but rather an implemention I wish to see added. In Codex: Cards, there are A LOT of cards, most only sightly different from it's neighbours. Now I'm a bit of completionist (Mayhaps the reason I've noticed exclusively Codex bugs), but it would be incredibly hard to collect rare cards since no hint is given as to which cards to look out for, rendering it a task of frustration, having to write all of it down somewhere else (remember, no copy-paste), and then go through a process of elimination for every encountered card. I enjoy the frustration of a good challenge, but that seems a little overkill, even for me. So, I would recommend adding a little exclamation, symbol, or message denoting for every card offered in a run, if it is a 'new' card or not.

If you read all of that, I hoped you enjoyed my ramble.

Hello, thank you for this super-detailed feedback !

The game is still in development, particularly the codex and card types are not super defined in the live version.

About the bug report, those are good recommendations.
I'll add a notification when the report is sent, plus clear the report when opening the window.
The report itself arrived correctly to our discord
