Another Au Nightmare based.
I've had AT LEAST 5 different drafts all the way back since 2022 so chosing the best one was hard...
Here, Nightmare's a good, misunderstood guy. In his original multiverse he's in good terms with Dream and takes care of eating all and any negativity and bad thoughts around like it's the sweetest dessert ever. (Eating it directly instead of absorbing bit by bit, and without the megalomaniac tendencies the original has, he actually doesn't cause much ruckus)
Thing is, our main character wasn't from the main bad guy's multiverse, instead the four of them were with some OTHER Nightmare, a canon personality related one that did pursue power over everything and everyone else. This one grew angrier by the days, not liking how "soft" his gang was on fights (they always lost, with most injured being too grave to go back to fights without at least a week of rest) so he actually just abandoned them, left the multiverse and threw one of his versions to take his place; our MC.
Full of PTSD and a bit of fear, the gang kinda tried not to piss the new Nightmare off, but actually It didn't matter what they did, Nightmare did NOT speak at all, only stares.
He's not mute, bro's just socially awkward and prefers not to talk much.
That version is mostly harmless, I mean, does he LOOK like someone that would willingly get bad? 🤨
He's just silly and he doesn't know it.
The wider eye lights are something he can't control, something he had since the passive form and even after corruption. Dream has something similar, getting wide eye lights in the dark to see better. (Yes, Nightmare has problems with well lit places because of it and he hates it.)
Also he has a slight aversion to cats so... Yeah, he wasn't very fond of Killer's room and they didn't get along at first.
Soft Nightmare's personally sheet (which I refuse to photograph because OMG IT'S UGLEYYY) states that;
- He usually doesn't runs thin on patience easily, a trick Dream teached him.
- Surprisingly, he likes licorice. (Idk why don't ask me)
- Nightmare actually fears deep waters.
- He didn't apologize for what happened in Dreamtale but he does feel bad.
- Even though sleeping does nothing to his organism, later on when the gang accepts him a little more, Nightmare got an habit of helping the insomniacs falling asleep by sleeping next to them ↓
I remember actually loving making stuff about this AU but most of it is poorly polished...
BUT
To be honest, I'd easily start drawing about it again!
(pls ask questions about it there's so much lore I didn't write down because it would be LONG AS HELL.)
