ジョン・テイト（John Torrence Tate, 1925年3月13日 - 2019年10月16日^[1]）は、アメリカの数学者。 エミール・アルティンのもとで1950年プリンストン大学で学位を取得。長年ハーバード大学に勤め、現在はテキサス大学オースティン校教授。ミネソタ州ミネアポリス生まれ。

現在の研究範囲は代数的整数論、類体論、ガロア・コホモロジー、ガロア表現、L関数とその特殊値、Modular形式、楕円曲線、Abel多様体。

業績

p-divisible群とTate加群の研究によりP進ホッジ理論を用意した。

Abel多様体におけるSerre-Tate理論。

Rigid解析空間の幾何学の創始。

Artin-Tate公式、Iwasawa-Tateのゼータ。 Lubin-Tate群、Shafarevich-Tate群、Mumford-Tate群の構成等とまだまだ沢山彼の名前がついた業績が有る。 Tate双対性、Tate曲線、Neron-Tate height、Bass-Tate、Mazur-Tate-Teitelbaum Hodge-Tate分解、Tate twist、Sato-Tate...etc...
