Policy Group
About
Purpose of the Policy Group
The Policy Group exists to ensure harmony of IFEM’s policies with each other and with the strategic direction of the organisation. It will be both proactive and reactive to new situations such as creating policy statements, developing IFEM’s equity and diversity and inclusion strategies.
Function of the Policy Group
The Policy Group serves to:
- advise and assist the Board on matters relating to key areas of internal, interface and external policy and ensure intra-organisational harmonisation of policy matters
- in its first year of existence the group will work with the secretariat and the Governance Committee to proactively review existing policies to create a clear review cycle and perform a gap analysis for forward planning.
- advise the President and the Board in planning for matters regarding IFEM’s external presence / communication where IFEM may need to take a position
- assist the President and the Board where unexpected or sudden global situations may require clarity on IFEM’s position, in the public domain
- identify gaps or new policy areas within IFEM’s governance framework and highlight these to the Board
- assist and advise the Board on IFEM’s strategy future campaigns or social media themes
- receive notice from the secretariat of IFEM policies or web content that is due to expire or has been superseded by new information / events and advise the Governance Committee and Board on next steps
- support IFEM’s other committees, taskforces and special interest groups in aligning their governance documents to IFEM strategy and in writing new documents relating to IFEM policy (terms of reference, white papers, etc)
- proactively monitor and communicate with member societies for influential policies in order to support them as mutually agreed
- create a clear communications and marketing framework that outlines lines of responsibility and authorisation within IFEM
