WestJet renews technology partnership with Sabre Corporation. Sabre announced today, that Canadian carrier Westjet has renewed it’s SabreSonic PSS for multiple years in what Sabre dubbed a sign of WestJet‘s confidence in Sabre‘s airline technology. According to Sabre, the agreement will also allow Westjet to „assess Sabre‘s next generation Offer and Order technologies“. Sabre stock was down 2.5% for the day hovering around its all time low, despite the announcement.

Innovation continues to accelerate to intercept evolving corporate buyer requirements.   Proof positive of this acceleration was observed as I attended the Blockskye Travel Innovation Summit in Santa Monica last week. The Blockskye, Kayak for Business, Amadeus and United teams did a thorough job of updating the attendees on their strategy, product development road map and innovation plans in a series of interactive presentations. Key takeaways from the event included how Blockskye is providing a set on enablers on their platform to drive enhanced traveler experiences, improved access to supplier content, multi-channel booking and support, resulting in reduced friction from booking through to reimbursement and settlement. As importantly, I had the chance to speak directly with a number of buyers to gain insight into their experience with the Blockskye-K4B product set, which allows Areka to validate and verify their actual customer experience. This process of triangulating supplier information and customer experience is but one of the ways Areka provides insight into the corporate T&E marketplace for its clientele.
