My research interests are primarily in the areas of theoretical computer science and mathematical foundations of computing, including computational complexity theory, design and analysis of algorithms, data structures, sorting networks, parallel computing, neural networks, and experimental algorithmics.

I am the Director of the Laboratory for Recreational Computing (LARC), an innovative educational project on computer games.

I am currently an editor of Information and Computation, an Associate Editor of Journal of Computer and System Sciences, and the Editor of SIGACT News.

TCS Genealogy

I am currently the keeper of the SIGACT genealogy of doctoral degrees in theoretical computer science.

TCS Virtual Address Book

I am currently the keeper of the SIGACT TCS Virtual Address Book, which contains pointers to the web pages of theoretical computer scientists worldwide.
