Research interests

My research centers around functional programming. I am particularly interested in functional algorithm design and purely functional data structures. At the moment I am mainly working on generic functional programming (Generic Haskell). In the past I worked on strictness analysis and type systems.

Activities

I am a member of IFIP Working Group 2.1 (Algorithmic Languages and Calculi), IFIP Working Group 2.8 (Functional Programming), and I am a member of EAPLS.

I am a member of the editorial board of the Journal of Functional Programming.

I served on the Haskell 98 committee and on the program committees of WAAAPL'99, WGP 2000, ICFP 2000, HW 2000, WCGP '02, ICFP 2003, HW 2003, and MetaOCaml workshop. I was the organizer and chair of the 2001 Haskell Workshop.

I served as Guest Editor of the Special Issue on Functional Pearls of the Journal of Functional Programming.

I am serving on the program committee of POPL 2005.
