My former life as a scientist. I studied mathematics and informatics at the KULeuven. From 1987 tot 1999, I worked (first) as a teaching and research assistant and (later) as a postdoc researcher and part-time lecturer at the KULeuven Department of Computer Science. My research interests lay in artificial intelligence, theoretical computer science and software engineering, focussing on the field of logic programming. Stays of upto several months were spent at the European Computer Industry Research Centre in Munich (1989 and 1990), Bristol University (1994), Copenhagen University (1995) and the universities of Padova and Venice (1996). Under the supervision of Prof. dr. Danny De Schreye, I obtained a PhD in 1994 with a thesis on the semantics of meta-programming and the control of partial deduction in logic programming, which won me the 1995 IBM Belgium Prize for Informatics, awarded by FWO Vlaanderen. A list of my papers in international scientific journals can be found here. |
