Workshop Goals and Format:

  • Exposing The State of the Art in AOSD: Separation of concerns is one of the basic goals of software engineering, and is the founding principle for the field of Aspect-Oriented Software Development. As such, it is the goal of the workshop to bring together current AO researchers with the broader Asian Software Engineering community. This convergence will provide insight into how AO relates to SE in general, and how different work in SE might fit into AOSD. Research papers that provide the state of the art for AOSD will provide the basis for this exploration.

  • Strengthening the Asian AO Community, and forming International ties: In a discussion phase of the workshop, we will focus on bringing together groups of like-researchers, and finding commonalities and potential avenues for collaboration. Researchers will be initially grouped based on position papers, and newcomers can join groups as they see is appropriate. The groups will then discuss their own respective research in more depth, and newcomers can ask questions about AO from experts in the area in a more intimate setting.

  • Instructing Newcomers about AO: An instructional portion of the workshop will involve short talks on what aspect-orientation is, and how it "looks" at various phases of the lifecycle. This will facilitate new participants' understanding of aspects, and will help them better benefit from and contribute to the rest of the workshop. It will also serve as a basis for discourse among current AO researchers. The essays, position papers, and pedagogical papers will provide the basis for this exploration.

    Important Dates:

Research Submissions (for inclusion in Conference Proceedings): August 22nd
    Notification of acceptance: September 14th

Essays, Positions and Pedagogical Papers (to be published on the web): October 20th
