  Course compendium

Due to the large number of participants in the course, the larger body of the material that I cannot make available electronically has been collected in a course compendium. This compendium (entitled "Software Patterns Course Comendium" or something like that) should be available Friday 10th of September in the bookshop.

The compendium unfortunately came without a table of contents. A table of contents is now available in PDF

  Recommended book

To follow the course, I recommend you buy the following book, also known as "The GOF Book":

Design Patterns, Elements of Reusable Object-Oriented Software, Erich Gamma, Richard Helm, Ralph Johnson, John Vlissides. Addison-Wesley, 1995. [aka "The GOF Book"]

During the course, you are expected to read most of this book, and it will not be made available as handouts.

Although we'll take a critical look at the book, and compare it to other literature in patterns, it is a classic. Some even call it the best book ever written in compute science ... I think I'll stick to saying that I can definitely recommend it!

  Handouts
Handouts are either electronic (and linked to directly from this page) or printed. Printed handouts can be found in the Shannon building.
