Research
My main interest is in programming languages and systems in general, and functional programming and program transformation in particular. I am very interested in program calculation based on programming algebras, and I am looking into how to apply this theory to automatic program optimization, systematic parallelization of sequential programs, and efficient manipulation of structured documents.

At the moment, I am working on the following projects (some are linked to Japanese web sites).

If you are interested in joining us, I'd be pleased to hear from you. A list of projects can be found here.

Publications
Academic Activities
I am now involved in the following conferences/workshops/schools. Please consider submission of your papers or participation. I am also one of the organizers of the The Tokyo Programming Seminars. Join us at the seminar.

You may find more information about my activities by clicking here.

Software
You may get fun to play with the following software developed by our group, and your comments are greatly appreciated.
  • PSD Application Package for Construction of Programmable Structured Documents.
  • SkeTo: A C++ Library for Deadlock-free Parallel Programming with Parallel Skeletons.
  • Yicho: A Combinator Library for Supporting Calculational Programming.
  • HYLO: An automatic fusion calculation system (implemented in the old GHC).
Teaching
I like teaching. Some materials are available online.
