Biographical Data
I was born in Pollachi, which is a small town in Tamilnadu (a state in the southern part of India). I finished my higher secondary eduation in 1997 and joined the Guindy College of Engineering (part of Anna University, Tamilnadu, India), where I majored in Computer Science and Engineering. In the Fall of 2001, I started my graduate studies in the computer sciences deparment of the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Since then I have been working as a Research Assistant in the Wisconsin Safety Analyser(WiSA) project for Prof. Tom Reps. Research Focus
I have been working on static analysis tools for programs without source code, with emphasis on security aspects like detecting buffer overruns in binaries, understanding possibly malicious programs (web-plugins, viruses, trojans, ...). As a first step, I have developed techniques to obtain an intermediate representation(IR) similar to the IR of a compiler's backend for a given x86 binary executable.
