Course Objectives
The thefts and losses that current software systems have caused in the recent past are perhaps a premonition of the extent of damage that current software systems infused into the critical infrastructure of the society can cause in future. It is a rude but timely awakening, and it is incumbent upon us as computer scientists to mitigate these risks to the extent possible. The research in security of software systems is making headway in several simultaneous directions. In this seminar, we will collectively study, understand, and critically evaluate these advances. As teams, we will also survey areas of mutual interest but within the broader scope of this topic. Last but not the least, this seminar will provide a collegial venue for students to improve upon their writing and communication skills through constructive feedback of peers.
