Please note:
Every month I get over 10,000 messages. Of these, just over 8000 messages are spam. In this same time I send over 1000 messages. I am, in short, a full time email employee who gets to do a little teaching and research on the side. You know, as recreation.
While Google Mail has greatly helped me with the spam, I still get about a score of spam messages every day that I must manually dispatch. I also no longer have time to manually inspect the messages Google Mail tags as spam. With all this churning in my mailbox, it's inevitable that I will make a mistake someday.
This means there is a small but non-zero chance that I will lose your message entirely, and a slightly greater chance that other important things will keep me from responding to you in a timely manner. If the matter is important to both of us and you haven't heard back from me for a week, feel free to email me again.
