He had been visiting Gregor Kiczales' group at UBC from October 2001 until September 2002 as a Monbu-kagaku-syou zaigai-kenkyuu-in (under The Fellowship Program for University Teachers for Study Abroad, Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology) from University of Tokyo.

Research Interests

He is interested in fundamental aspects of Aspect-Oriented Programming (AOP), including the following topics:

• an operational model for discussing various AOP systems (a tutorial)
• building AOP compilers (semi-)automatically (a paper)
• formal semantics of AOP languages
• optimizing AOP programs
• applications
