Helger's IQ page

During the years, I've completed several online IQ tests. In most of them I have felt myself culturally challenged (for example, for me as to non-native English speaker it is definitely difficult to quickly find anagrams of the word 'parachute'), so I guess the scores should be higher. Also, these thests are made for people with lower IQ (lower meaning here less than 150!), so they tend to ``lie'' in extremeties.

I have never bothered to take any official tests, nor have I been too much interested even in these online tests. But still, for someone it could be interesting (or embarrasing) to know that

• In a test at IqTest.Com I scored 165 points (09.10.2002) by using 12 minutes from 13. My problem with this test was that it was too simple, but somehow I did not get the maximum. May be because at least two questions were slightly ambiguous. By their own classification -- Genius: 146 - 165, and High genius: 166 - 180. (Maximum is 170. Go and figure.)
• In the European IQ-test (~1996..1998) I scored 162 points from 174 (using certainly less than 15 minutes from 20). I could argue with the authors of the test that (at least) 3 questions have ambiguous answers. Note that every correct answer gave three points. (Unfortunately, this test does not seem to be online anymore. It was may be not as good as the previous test, but on the other hand, it did not have culturally challenging questions. And I think it was also slightly more challenging in other aspects.)
• In one test I could not find anymore I scored 170 points from 170. I also cannot remember time it took to solve the test. (Why to state it? May be somebody who reads this knows a test with the maximum 170 and can point it out to me.)
• And for something different: another Spark IQ test gave me 172 points. (NB! This test is not serious, but scoring high on it still shows something.)
• Spark IQ2 Test gave me 194 points. (13.10.02.) It is a culturally biased test, and therefore not very valid for non-native English speakers. Finally a test that does not have an upper limit close to 170! However, it seems that it is way too easy to get too many points here. This is the only test where I do not consider the result realistic at all.

I do not believe that any of these tests was particularly accurate. But the fact is that I got approximately the same result in all of them.

Al huffed. "What's impressive with being born with brains? Trust me. I've seen what the public thinks of people with brains. Clamoring all over them. Hell, I'm surrounded by people with brains everyday." He huffed. "I'm not a genius. I was just cursed with a high IQ. Apparently, it wasn't high enough for me to see something that was in plain sight," he muttered before popping a couple of beer nuts into his mouth.
