Keyboard layouts
- The colemak keyboard layout.
- The Dvorak layout
allows more comfortable and slightly faster typing than the
traditional Qwerty layout. This is because the keys are placed so
that most common combination of letter are easy to type.

Keyboards
- Kinesis produces ergonomic
keyboards, with "concave key wells" that allow more comfortable
typing and many thumb keys. See the full list of the claimed ergonomic
benefits. Both qwerty and Dvorak are supported.
- Maltron produces similar
ergonomic keyboards. Their new Maltron Layout is
claimed to be even betten than Dvorak. Qwerty is also an option.
- Fingerworks produce TouchStream
keypads. The basic idea is that you can type by touching the
surface instead of pressing keys, which requires using smaller forces,
thereby increasing typing speed. The real innovation is that the pad
allows us to use method of input impossible (or very difficult) with
normal keyboards. First, one can press many keys (e.g. AOEU or ASDF)
at the same time to emulate
modifiers. Second, in addition to touching the keys, you can also
issue command by
moving your fingertips while touching the surface.
