I am originally from Burnaby, British Columbia. I have spent my entire life on the west coast of Canada, moving to New Westminster when I was a child, where I lived for about 20 years completing a Computer Information Systems diploma at Douglas College. After completing the diploma, I had a desire to learn more about computing in a more general sense and decided to continue my studies by pursuing a degree in Computer Science at the University of Victoria. I moved to Victoria full-time in 2003, completed my bachelors degree in 2005, and after that began my masters degree (again at the University of Victoria) under the co-supervision of Dr. Yvonne Coady and Dr. George Tzanetakis.
Much of my interests revolve around computers and computing, and I am a fairly active member in various "tech" groups around Victoria (I have in the past been a member of The Victoria Linux Users Group, and I often attend meetings of the Recreational Computer Science Society).
