My research interests include dynamic optimization, machine-specific and profile-driven compilation, high-performance computer architecture, and practical applications of security. My research group developed and distributes the Machine SUIF research compiler. This system is used by many around the world, but we've moved on to use other compilation and optimization infrastructures such as the Phoenix system from Microsoft. My interests in security and privacy extend into the private sector, where I co-founded Liquid Machines, Inc., a provider of unique solutions for enterprise rights management. You can find a complete list of my recent projects on the right side of this page and a complete list of my research publications in my CV.

If you're interested in earning a Ph.D. in Computer Science, please note that I am not currently taking students.

When away from the office, I can be found swimming, walking my dog, or playing with my kids. As Dr. Seuss says in The Cat in the Hat, "It is fun to have fun, but you have to know how."
