I understand confidence can come with time and age but sometimes I feel so scared and so much less capable than my friends that it really bums me out. I always feel like they have to help me way too much because of my lack of confidence and that I wish I could even be a little more confident to just feel like I’m on a level playing field with them. Confidence is something that I think has to be worked on like any other skill. It's possible to project confidence but not truly feel it. One good way to start is by forcing yourself to handle situations that you might usually leave for other people. It'll feel like total shit in the lead-up but you would be surprised at how uneventful most situations are. Things like making phone calls you don't want to, being the person who orders for everyone at a restaurant, making enquiries to shop workers etc. These all are tasks that slowly add up because once you start doing them more regularly, they become much easier.

Life does get better when you're willing to carve out a space for yourself and make it known that you intend to fill it, but getting to that point requires leaps of faith that will take time and effort. And yeah, you will fuck up. You will join a conversation and say the wrong thing and want to die a million deaths right then and there, but it's all part of a learning curve and progress is never linear.

Have a little bit of faith in yourself, love. You don't have to be confident in EVERYTHING but having some things that you are proud of or are willing to undertake for the sake of others are great first stepping stones xx
