Love by the Water is an urban-fantasy harem romance influenced by slice-of-life comedy and the horror-mystery genres.
Synopsis:
Wake Shelley's world is a small one, but it doesn't have to be.
An avid reader raised by a fisherman father, Wake's historically nervous disposition has left him too frightened to experience the world outside of his small ocean-side home. With any attempt at bravery quickly cut short by violent panic attacks, he always recoils back into his room—into his books—where he knows he's safe. When the local university decides to move its campus to the cliffside overlooking his beach-front property, however, he decides to make his most hearty effort yet to make up for lost time by pushing through his fears in order to attend.

that's up to you! i will say, though, that i'll be releasing a QoL update in the coming weeks that replaces the current UI/UX and adds a lot of photos and things to unlock so if you do want to restart, you might want to hold off a little longer 🤞

Love this game!!! Absolutely incredible scenes. Amazing. More liam content & i loved this, but like fable. Id love to see his dark side implemented more, like choosing that path more & more til you dont get to choose & hes just being his dark self more frequently.

im sorry i only saw this now!! i believe when i first released my game's initial demo, it was accidentally titled love on the water, but that was years ago and was a fundamentally different game (most of that content has been replaced)

So, I've been trying to figure this one reference to a game when you are talking to Mallory and she says something about Rosin from silver moon and I can't think of anything aside from Dark Cloud. I might be wrong but that's my guess and also it's a really great game. Keep up the great work
"Rosen" and the general plot synopsis are totally made up, but "Silver Moon" is just a silly flip of "Golden Sun," and its subtitle "Nightmare Carry Close" is a flip of Kingdom Hearts' "Dream Drop Distance" haha

Ok I loved the update, but honestly, there's just two things which I gotta mention.
A) Abby's favourite movie? Seriously? I have to go back and play from the beginning if I want to ace the scene? Its been MONTHS, at least half a year.... I love this game and wax lyrical about it as WAY underrated sleeper that every fan of the AVN genre should DEFINITELY play, but that is a bit harsh tbh. There was NO mutually strong attraction initially when I met Abby... so I really did not feel the need to pay much attention to what she told me, and I am not even sure I am attracted to her... or just her tests.. which are kinda awesome. Being expected to recall that, MONTHS later, without any way of finding it out, to get the best outcome on what is one of the hotter scenes in the game so far, is a rare miss for this game, pretty bad tbh.
B)... As adorable as Emma is, and she IS.... those hips man, I personally wish she looked like Abby waist down... much more proportional..... every time I look at her, all I see is a Russian Nesting Doll... which, I mean, that might have been hilarious if she was Russian, but she's French :p I mean I know she is tiny and one might wish to avoid her being seen as a Loli dolly... but every time I see her, I expect to open her up and find another, smaller Emma inside... and another smaller one inside that.

for reference, every character's favorite movie (as well as their favorite food, music, etc.) is in their gallery page, which is easily accessible from the main menu! i initially tested putting a "check the gallery" popup during that scene, but in testing we thought it felt too obvious LMAO. i guess not 😭

Yeah, I had to save the game at that very... HOT... point... and check. Was... jarring...... and definitely broke immersion, you know? I think if that scene happened AFTER Sasha introduces herself to the class... and then Abby busts in.... and in that time.. SHE was just like 'Oh, are we doing this now? Me next... I am Abby my favourite colour is MC Shelley.... my favourite game is MC Shelley... my favourite food is MC Shelley... oh, and my favourite movie is....X" and THEN the closet scene happens.... no one would need to check the gallery. It would be so close between her reminding the player,. and that scene, it likely would be available to redo as auto save.
I mean, too late now, I know.... just maybe something which could be a tip for the next chapter... give an IN GAME reminder of a past thing, right before it matters that you know it....and that will make it smoother, and not need break the immersion it might otherwise so break, if one needs go back to check from a menu or something, you know what I mean?
Also, my gallery shows two scenes with Frankie and one with Sam missing... and I am not sure I ever saw any options which would trigger those scenes... are those scenes triggered by NOT doing a thing, which leads to something else with they, and thus scenes, rather actively choosing something related to either of them which then leads to those scenes?
yeah, that's definitely something to keep in mind! on the other hand, though, i'm not so sure abby would be as impressed with your memory if she reminded you immediately before 🤣 in the next update, the updated gallery will be easily accessible directly from the pause menu and hopefully that'll help. i'll keep this in mind though
and if you missed frankie's lewd scenes, it means you're not on her romance path (this choice is made at the end of chapter 2 outside of the sauna). and the extra sam scene is a bug (it's a duplicate). sorry about that apis 😵💫
Damn, time to reply from the start then lol, I want Frankie badly. She, the old Sheriffs daughters, and Coach are, along with Mommy/Krissy/Missy Behr my most wanted for ye olde Harem. I guess I have thing for lithe or athletic women, or even Muscle Mommas (sweet heart with muscle and bald head is on the list too... just not as high up as the aforementioned)..... and since I do not see any options for the Sheriffs gals, or Coach yet.... Frankie it is.
The scene with Sam looked like it had someone else in it, whereas the scene which I DO have, just has her on Cam alone, with Sasha watching, so I thought they were different scenes.
Yes, accessing the gallery IN GAME would be awesome, and definitely make it easier for any interactions like that, if they come up again going fowards.... though I think needing medical intervention for acute .....Cumtardedness.... and the Euphoria displayed thereafter upon her return would suggest that Abby would forget how unimpressed she was because she just reminded me :P I love obsessed Abby though... she is great.. she needs keep that energy and that.... need....and those spot quizzes.... up. :p

yes, those two scenes with nora were removed when the first chapter of the game underwent a rewrite and visual upgrade, but i left them in the gallery so i wasn't taking content away from people. when i started the game, i felt obligated to have lewd scenes and as i grew as a developer i realized i was uncomfortable with how rushed and exceedingly unromantic those scenes felt (not to mention, the first one isn't even animated!). nora (and mrs. landa!!!) are deserving of a more romantic and emotional relationship arc
I see. I am still playing the game (still at this moment. Only at Day 2) like around 4 hours straigt (when you take eat etc. in). I still see Elsbeth as my favorite one. I don't know why, but for me personally she has the most character. Beside her, I would say Sam, Lily, Cecilia, Emma, Ellie, Nora, and Isabella.
The game is fantastic, and I am ashamed that I didn't play the first version and only started to play it today.
The removed scene. Are you going to implement them at a later date and rewriten or are they totally gone in sense of not coming into the game anymore as canon?

and those scenes are fully noncanon. they don't make sense at all in in relationship to her personality and the larger story, etc. She will, of course, be romanceable and have h-scenes, but they'll be earned and a lot better
Fun part is, I would have ben able to play the game in it Demo Phase. I litterally found it when it was a few days old. But I hadn't time to play and only packed it in my Game list with 3.000+ games in it.
When I saw the update today, I immediately felt the need to play it. I even bookmarked it when I first discovered it a few years ago because it sounded and looked intriguing. This encouraged me even more to play it today so I wouldn't have to look through so many games to find it immediately. However, even the bookmarks for these fantastic-looking and sounding games will soon surpass 200. I wish I had more time to enjoy games like yours. It is really difficult to find time to play when there are so many games.
So the scenes are not going to appear in another form later (like when she is intimer with Wake), when I understood it right.
I'm glad this sneaked up to me, I think I will enjoy the little silly here and there. So far it's nice.
I have to say he is awesome at sleeping and just hasn't realised his super Power yet.
I'm very curious to know if there is any Chinese localization translator working on this. If not, I think I could be up for it :)

Can you give us a list of characters who prevent scenes w/ other characters if you ignore/avoid them? Lower in the comments you mentioned that two of Sasha's scenes are unavailable if you skip someone else, and if it's going to be like that, it would be really handy to have a reference sheet so we can pursue who we want to fully!
Also sorry for the double comment, but I just got to the breathing exercises bit in the beginning and I am DYING, well done. ><
i'm currently in the process of a major overhaul of my game's ui/ux and replay gallery, and locked scenes will come with a hint on how to unlock them, but for the most part it's super easy to see everything you want. the game is linear and pretty telegraphed. that other comment, for example: he missed a sasha scene because he rejected a prompt from another character while sasha is directly next to you in the same room :)
I don't really post on any games comment sections every but cure and this one i had to. Its Phenomenal! I don't know if its through lived experience with oddities or a wolf of wall street, cocaine fueled board room meeting, but i love each and every one of these characters. The writing style, choice of literary and pop culture references, story and kinks on display are fuckin awesome. Absolutely love you and cant wait to see more!!!

this won't ever be a sandbox game as i don't really enjoy sandboxes myself, but i do plan on implementing more minor, explatory point-and-click segments in the future

So. I was trying to find an AVN I played about two years ago, and for the life of me, I could not remember its name.
I checked everywhere. Every other AVN I had played had a folder in AppData > Roaming > RenPy, but the AVN I was searching for was nowhere to be found. I Googled, searched through old files, and tried to remember characters, scenes, anything. Eventually, I gave in and asked an LLM to help me track it down.
It struggled too, honestly. But after about an hour of narrowing things down, I finally found it.
And it was this one!
I went through the dev log to see what had changed, and I was really happy to find out that not only was there a new chapter, but cure had relaunched Chapter 1 too. So. I downloaded it and played through the first chapter, and... Man, it is so much better than I remembered.
The story, the visuals, the renders, the animations... everything feels so much more polished now.
It also hit me differently this time because I’ve been messing around with HS2 for the better part of a year, and I’ve had a few AVN story ideas floating around in my head. Playing through this made me even more excited to combine my computer science background with my creative side and hopefully share a story of my own with the world one day.
And if that ever comes to fruition, you can be sure I’ll be crediting cure as one of the creators who inspired me to finally take it seriously.
Seeing where this started compared to where it is now is genuinely inspiring.
So yeah, thank you, cure! Great game, great story, great visuals, and great animation renders. Really glad I found my way back to it

the game is primarily written and designed with harem as the canon route, but like it says in the game's description, "there is no forced romance." you can reject anyone/everyone
I just can't get into a game where the females have unnaturally large breasts on so many characters.

Does the friend route for these characters have different cutscenes unique to being friends, or does it just cut out certain scenes? It would be nice to see something different depending on your relationship with the character but I don't code so not really criticism just curiosity.
hello! it's kind of a complicated answer, but i'll try my best
when you choose not to pursue a character romantically, that becomes your canon choice. it does not simply skip their h-content; it makes it so it never happens. when you choose to not pursue a character romantically, dialogue definitely changes to reflect that you two are simply friends (or perhaps it's more accurate to say the dialogue simply no longer contains any flirtation/romance).
that being said, it would be dishonest to say there's really much extra content purely for friend paths. while romance is optional, friendship isn't for the most part, so most scenes remain similar, just with dialogue changed to reflect your choices and scenes ending without h-content occurring. there are scenes where, instead of the h-content you would have gotten, there's some minor replacement, but it's kind of rare. there is simply too much that goes into trying to balance 25 potential love interests and their intertwining paths to make alternate content for every possible decision. i went into this game wanting to make sure no one was forced into a relationship with a character they don't like, but it's definitely written and developed with full-harem as its true-canon (or at least harem with the "main girls").
in the future, i'm totally interested in going back and narrowing paths for certain characters and adding more decisive friend or solo-LI chosen path routes, but for the sake of my sanity and to ensure the game is actually able to progress, i have to do it this way xD for example, even if you only rejected ONE love interest in the game, that still creates a ripple of dozens of paths being affected. now multiply that by any other number of potential rejections, and it's nearly an infinite amount of alternate scenes i have to render, write, code, and plan xD as we speak, for example, i'm coding a really long scene with sasha right now, and once i'm done, i get to code it again but specifically for the group of people who may choose to not romance sasha. that group is probably pretty small, so maybe no one will ever see this alternate dialogue. i have to do it just in case, though, to make sure my game doesn't dead-end for anyone, but i don't think it would be a smart use of my time to create an entirely new scene that is specifically for those people who don't want to be romantic with sasha, you know?
at the end of the day, it's my fault for having so many characters! but that's also the main reason i wanted to make this game. i wanted to have what feels like an entire, truly lived-in island with dozens of characters to befriend and romance, and i wanted all of their content to feel natural and flow well. that comes first for me

Great game so far but you really need to step outside the typical haram bubble AVNs stick too with it just being bed hopping. I wanna see the girls in the harem sleeping with each other as well as with the MC, threesomes orgies etc... From the changing room scene with Sasha and Frankie I feel like there was something there between them. Even at the end Frankie was like can I join your harem lmfao.
