With over 7,000 full-time employees, WEX aims to simplify the business of running a business for our customers and partners worldwide. Our more than 800,000 customers around the globe have trusted us to conduct hundreds of billions of dollars in money movements in more than 20 currencies.

  • 1983

    Wright Express is founded. Our fleet card is born!

  • 1990

    Get pumped! 50,000 sites accept our fuel cards.

  • 1998-99

    Cha-ching! We now issue Mastercard and VISA cards.

  • 2000

    We're flying! We sign our first Online Travel Agency.

  • 2005

    We become a publicly traded company.

  • 2008-12

    We open our first offices in Europe, Asia, and Latin America.

  • 2012

    Hi, we're WEX (officially!) Wright Express is renamed.

  • 2014

    The doctor is in! WEX expands into healthcare.

  • 2016

    WEX hits US $1B in total revenue.

  • 2019

    Maine HQ opens in Portland. Lobster rolls on us!

  • 2023

    WEX celebrates its 40th anniversary.

  • TODAY

    As of December 31, 2023, WEX employs more than 7,000 full-time employees across 16 countries.
