I’m a franchise owner of a residential and commercial painting services company.

What challenge were you trying to address with Antonio & Paris?

We were looking to grow our aided and unaided brand awareness. The franchisor of our company hired Antonio & Paris, so I was not directly engaged with them, but I worked with Antonio & Paris to educate them on our brand.

What was the scope of their involvement?

Antonio & Paris helped with our creatives and brand positioning. Their team researched our company’s previous initiatives and then spent a few months interviewing various stakeholders. This included previous and potential customers and our employees to understand how we were viewed internally and externally.  

After this research phase, Antonio & Paris assisted in developing brand language and terminology and helped decide where we were spending money on media. 

What is the team composition?

We worked with 3–4 individuals; this included Antonio & Paris (Co-CEOs) and two other representatives. 

How did you come to work with Antonio & Paris?

They were a referral from someone in the digital media space. After the discovery process, our company offered Antonio & Paris the contract. 

How much have you invested with them?

We spent between $400,000–$500,000 annually, but that’s a rough estimate. 

What is the status of this engagement?

We worked together between January 2020–January 2023.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement? 

Our aided and unaided brand awareness grew dramatically after we engaged with Antonio & Paris. We found their brand positioning statement and creatives to be superb and had positive external feedback. Antonio & Paris also successfully identified and corrected branding mistakes that were made in the past. 

How did Antonio & Paris perform from a project management standpoint?

Their communication with our company’s franchisees was fantastic, and they were consistent with meetings and updates. 

What did you find most impressive about them?

They understood our company and values before they started working on anything. Their creatives were also unique and stood out to us. 

Are there any areas they could improve?

They could have done a better job of explaining how extensive the timeline for progress would be. We didn’t understand that changes would take much longer than we thought, but that wasn’t entirely their fault.

Clearly communicate your expectations, and understand what they’ll deliver and how.

Josh Riggs: I’m the CEO of OncoCyte Corporation. We are a development-stage diagnostics manufacturer.

What challenge were you trying to address with Antonio & Paris?

RA: In 2019, we went through a complete rebrand of our organization’s strategic vision. We wanted our brand to match the new strategic vision and hired Antonio & Paris to complete that rebrand. We knew it would take a village to complete the project, and we felt that bringing in an external vendor would be the best decision. 

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?
RA: Antonio & Paris went through a discovery phase and interviewed physicians in our space to test our messaging, branding documents, and value proposition as an organization. We were also in the process of naming all our products, and this new branding played into that. We went through numerous iterations and then started an implementation phase. 
Antonio & Paris was responsible for creating the new brand and developing everything with that brand. During the implementation phase, we changed the look and feel of our website, our marketing documents, sales brochures, and the rest of our collateral. We presented this new brand to our organization.

RA: We worked with Zack (SVP), Ashley (SVP, Strategy & Global Innovation Lead), Paris, and Antonio (Co-CEOs). 
How did you come to work with Antonio & Paris?
RA: We had a previous relationship with Antonio & Paris. We chose them because of their previous work and overall pedigree.

How much have you invested with them?
RA: We spent around $200,000.

What is the status of this engagement?
RA: We worked together between September–November 2019.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement? 

RA: We work in a science-based space, but the branding that Antonio & Paris created was very personable and patient oriented. We weren’t tracking analytics before starting with Antonio & Paris, so we don’t have any concrete metrics, but their work was excellent. They were meticulous about the messaging and wording they chose, and intentional about the entire brand. 

JR: They set up a brand that worked incredibly well for years. We’ve been able to easily take the branding guidelines they set and layer them in our next products without external assistance. Their original architecture enabled a seamless expansion of our product portfolio. 

How did Antonio & Paris perform from a project management standpoint?

RA: They provided excellent project management and were very communicative about what they needed from us. They were also open to feedback and asked questions to ensure they built the product we wanted. Everything was delivered on time and within budget. 

JR: They did a fantastic job of ensuring that the lines of communication were open and expectations were managed throughout the process. We used phone calls, a communication tool, Zoom, and emails.  

Are there any employees from the service provider's team that you would like to give a shout-out to in this review?

RA: We’d like to shout out Zack for doing a great job managing our relationship. However, we were thrilled with their whole team and felt that they did a great job utilizing their strengths to the fullest. 

What did you find most impressive about them?

RA: We were highly impressed with the brand presentation and their ability to turn our ideas into creative language and something real. We appreciated their ability to drive emotion out of complex science. Our products change patients' lives, and Antonio & Paris keyed in on that emotional aspect. 

JR: We were impressed with the resilience of the work and how it remained consistent years after they created it. 

Are there any areas they could improve?

RA: We asked them to do some things that were out of their wheelhouse, and they handed the assets off, which is where we had the most issues. 

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

RA: Be open to their ideas because even if they seem out of the box, they know what they’re doing, and are good at what they do.

Antonio + Paris will be my branding agency until I retire. They have played an instrumental role in The Franklin Institute's rebrand leading up to our 200th anniversary. It was A&P's recommendation from their quantitative and qualitative research to start a digital platform (Beyond.fi.edu) that would connect individuals with our brand 24/7/365 wherever they were, not just at the museum. 

A&P built our brand strategy, communications strategy, brand guidelines, and brand identity. They have helped us with general admission campaigns, re-skinning our website, re-designing our brand launch website, our logo, a brand launch campaign including a brilliant spoken word commercial, and employee activation videos. In the end, I could not be happier with our now 4 year and running relationship.

What were the measurable outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

A comprehensive research report and brand strategy document, comprehensive brand guidelines, a redesigned website, and more. The new brand and its associated marketing campaign will launch November 2023.

Those I have worked with at Antonio + Paris are among the smartest, most responsive, people I have worked with in my career. They use BaseCamp as a project management tool, and we have weekly status calls.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

When I received proposals in response to my RFP, what particularly set A+P apart was their unique approach to qualitative research. Called Playground Sessions, the three-hour sessions are designed to achieve much deeper insights into what drives consumers emotionally that traditional focus groups are able to do. Its an impressive thing to watch.

Are there any areas for improvement or something Antonio & Paris could have done differently?

No. I couldn't recommend them more highly.

My project with the Antonio and Paris agency involved the creation of several assets with a highly technical focus, and working with a third company to house the digital assets. A+P started with market research, to help us better decide which materials to create, and which helped us explain the reasoning behind the project to our internal team.

We moved on to the creation process, with their team providing copy and creative design. A+P then worked with the third company to upload and house the assets. Finally, we moved to a global rollout where the experience of the team has allowed them to give us perspective on what we need to move forward in different regions and be sensitive to each audience.

What were the measurable outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

Since these are educational materials, we placed them in the hands of our customers to better educate the community and measured success by utilization.

A&P gave me a timeline of events including intake form review, copy creation and review, and upload time for the digital asset manager. They absolutely hit their target deadlines and most of the time came in early. They were also very flexible when I needed more time for a piece of the project.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

Although their work throughout the entire project was impressive, I'd say their industry experience and ability to give recommendations based on that experience were most helpful. Their superior communication would come in close second!

Are there any areas for improvement or something {provider_name} could have done differently?

The team gave a weekly summary e-mail at the end of every week detailing what was discussed on our status calls, what is needed from each party, and benchmarks/deadlines coming up. So potentially they could give an agenda of what will be discussed on the weekly status call, but honestly that's reaching because we all went back-and-forth enough to know what we needed to discuss.
