Penrhiwceiber (Welsh: Penrhiw-ceibr. Also sometimes spelt as Penrhywceibr or Penrhiwceibwr) is a former Welsh coal mining village and community deep in the South Wales Valleys of Wales. Situated in the Cwm Cynon in the county borough of Rhondda Cynon Taf, Penrhiwceiber lies 1 mile south of the town of Aberpennar. Penrhiwceiber was once a highly Welsh speaking village up until around the 1900's. In accordance with the 2001 census, the village has a population of around 6,265. To the locals of the village, Penrhiwceiber is generally known as "the Ceiber" or "Ceiber". The village is served by Penrhiwceiber railway station on the Aberdare Branch of the Merthyr Line.
