Aheer or "Ahir" (Sanskrit Abhira अभीर and Urdu اھععر) "fearless"). is an agricultural and cowherd Muslim caste found mainly in the Thal desert region of Punjab, Pakistan. Aheers are associated with Abhira tribe or Ahirs which is subgroup of Yadav in Hindu Religion which came in India in 15oo BC in vedic period originally settled in Punjab they later moved into Lower Indus Valley. In the 19th century Max Müller and other scholars identified Ophir with Abhira, at the mouth of the Indus River in modern-day Pakistan.
