語源
By surface analysis, maceō (“to be lean”) + -or. Adams and Mallory suggest that the term may relate to Ancient Greek μῆκος (mêkos) and Avestan masah, both of which reflect Proto-Indo-European *méh₂ḱos. However, this etymology is not supported by Wodtko et al. (2008). De Vaan merely lists the term as a derivative of macer.
