1. (mathematics, statistics) A generalization of the logistic function that "squashes" a K-dimensional vector ${\displaystyle \mathbf {z} }$ of arbitrary real values to a K-dimensional vector ${\displaystyle \sigma (\mathbf {z} )}$ of real values in the range (0, 1).
