1. (with "his", rare, dated, humorous) A male cougar viewed as the ruler of its habitat.
   • 1874 April 25, J. H. Batty, “The Felis Concolor, Or Panther”, in The Sportsman‎, volume 4, number 4, page 51:

     I expected I had been dressing meat for his cougarship, but as I had no horse to back the deer into camp, was obliged to "trust to luck," and started for camp by a short cut, and found I was continually "cut off" by beaver dams, and after a circuit of three miles reached camp and found my companions were a little uneasy because I had not put in an appearance earlier.
