cutpoint (複数形 cutpoints)

1. (topology) A point of a connected space whose removal causes the resulting space to be disconnected.

   Every point of a line is a cutpoint, but no point of a circle is a cutpoint.

2. (medicine) A cutoff point (cutoff value, threshold value), that is, a cutoff: the amount set by an operational definition as the transition point between states in a discretization or dichotomization.

     In 2007 the International Diabetes Federation (IDF) proposed single blood pressure (BP) cutpoints (systolic: ≥130 mm Hg かつ diastolic: ≥85 mm Hg) for the diagnosis of high blood pressure (HBP) in adolescents. Before this proposal, HBP had been defined as BP at or above the 95th percentile for age, sex, and height percentile (reference standard). In this study, we evaluated the risk for misclassification when using the IDF single-cutpoints criteria.
