I see references to Chromium/Chrome which is Google right ? So how separate is Opera from the Google behemoth? Is it owned or managed by Google?
I have been using Opera for ever since the beginning but I'm not a coder//developer just an internet user. But I am wary of anything connected to Google.
Thanks

The only alternative are Gecko based browsers, the most prominent of which is Firefox, and WebKit based ones like Apple‘s Safari.
Obviously building a rendering engine can’t be done by one small independent company. Heck, even Microsoft gave in and uses Chromium. Which is an Open Source project that‘s led by Google.
