<![CDATA[[Duplicated]Let me disable search engine shortcuts]]>Sometimes when searching on Opera I get redirected to another search engine because the thing I searched happened to include "y" or "b" for example, which makes the shortcut "feature" kick in. This is a feature that I have never once needed nor wanted and it is rather annoying that this "feature" is forced upon me with NO option to disable it. It should be a no-brainer to allow it to be turned off. It is bizarre and counterproductive to me that a search engine advertised as being "moddable" and "customizable" doesn't let me turn off a "feature" that I never asked for and only inconveniences me.

Here is how you can do it:

  1. Update your browser to version 131.0.5877.111 or newer.
  2. Navigate to opera://settings/early_bird in your address bar and enable Early Bird.
  3. Once Early Bird is enabled, the search engine shortcuts feature will be disabled automatically.
    If you ever want to turn the shortcuts back on in the future, you can easily do so by going to opera://settings/search.
