Try replacing the files with your old ones, set them as Read-Only, and restart Opera. If that fails, use a session recovery tool to extract your tabs.

Disable Battery Optimization: Go to your device's settings and ensure that Opera is set to "No restrictions" in the battery optimization settings.
Keep Opera Active: Use the "Recent Apps" button to keep Opera running in the background instead of completely closing it.
Check Background Data Usage: Ensure that Opera has permission to use data in the background.
Use a Session Manager Extension: Consider using a session manager extension that can save and restore your open tabs and sessions.

After crash, after you've started Opera and encountered an empty new session, while Opera is open, do a back-up of this folder -> %AppData%\Opera Software\Opera Stable\Sessions
Then you can close Opera, rename/delete current "Sessions" folder, and replace it the one from backup. Keep the backup until you will have a recovered session. Make sure in current "Sessions" folder is only by one "Session_####" and "Tabs_####" file (the smallest one can be deleted).

Important: When you notice that your session was lost, do not start browsing in this new empty session to not overwrite your old main session. For browsing Internet use another browser, another device, or a private windows in Opera (Ctrl+Shift+N).

Considering Mobile in the future too.

Recently I reinstalled my Windows 3 times (urgency...) every time I used my Opera GX to browse the Internet.

But now I have 5 sessions:

The one I use now, on my PC (lets say the name X)

The one from 1st new windows Installation and log in and sinced Opera GX (both have name X now). Same PC.

PC, Another one from 2nd new windows Installation and log in and sinced Opera GX (again the name is X). Again, same PC.

ok, now we have 3 sessions with the same name...

Laptop (no problems with this one btw)

Same PC, but with older version of Windows it has older name of Opera GX session lets name it Y

All the tabs of those sessions are in the sidebar tab called "Tabs" (not sure, I use Russian language in browser)
So, How Can I Log Out Of Those Sessions ???
Obviously, I don't want to delete my Opera account.

Immediately after crash, backup %Appdata%\Opera Software\Opera Stable\Sessions folder contents (there is usually two sets of Tabs and Sessions files).
If Opera starts empty then, close it, remove this folder contents and copy there oldest (or biggest, should be the same) Tabs and Sessions files pair from backup

Note that Sessions folder contains two copies of files, you need to test with single pair (Session & Tabs). But most likely Opera has already ovewritten the needed one.

This has happened here too, few times already (I'm on Opera developer branch, this is often less table) - thereby my first action after any kind of crash is quick copy of Opera session files.

Opera should have some crash detection and should copy last backup into safe place after that - but because such problems are rare, they have not implemented such behavior. Few years ago they created no session backups at all, current situation is improvement from that time for sure.

Ability to allow each Workspace to store last opened window when closing via the "X" (or similar methods) instead of only with Menu + Exit. Behavior would be the same as simply restoring last opened tabs except each Workspace would have its own set of them. This makes managing multiple sessions simple, elegant, and easy to prevent unnecessary use of system resources (do we really need ~5+ windows opening every time just to preserve our session??).

Ability to preserve closed windows in Opera's Full History page similar to how it does in the "short" history menu. This would make reopening/recovering windows simple and would be a clever way to reorganize them into Workspaces later if needed. Opera's full History page stores closed windows as individual entries which makes it frustrating to remember how you had them organized to begin with.

Ability to store and rearrange additional windows in a Workspace.

I'd like to emphasize that my request is intended to be "opt-in" so that people who do not want or need this can simply ignore this post.

I'm aware of "Menu + Exit" being what may have been intended but it is too clunky for my needs as it requires a user to close Opera that specific way. Even if a user successfully closes Opera properly, it will reopen everything rather than whichever Workspace you want to focus on. I want to be able to simply open/close a Workspace and have it be as I left it every time regardless of what other Workspaces I may have open or how I chose to close them.

I'm also aware that saving tabs as folders can suffice for this but it is quite cumbersome compared to what I've suggested above. Bookmarking opened tabs this way also exacerbates the issue of duplicating bookmarks. This is a problem for people like me who organize bookmarks meticulously by topic and would likely never open a folder of them in a single window since they may not all apply to what I'm doing. Seriously, Workspaces retaining their individual windows would be incredible for productivity! I truly hope that you consider my request for these optional features so that everyone can look forward to a better browsing experience in the future! Thank you.

PS: I wanted to Edit in some tags to my original post but I do not see any confirmation that it ever posted. I am trying again now without some extensions enabled just in case. I apologize for any duplicate posts!
