I have Opera running on 2 machines (Mac and Windows). I turned on Sync on both machines.

Background: I use the Bookmarks Bar on both machines and that's where I normally keep my bookmarks. I store bookmarks in folders and subfolders.

On my Mac, I created a new subfolder and added a bunch of bookmarks.

Then on my Windows, I opened Opera and the top level folder is gone! I see it when I open the bookmarks.bak file. But since it's dated yesterday, it doesn't have the new subfolder and bookmarks I added on my Mac.

Question: Why did Opera delete the top level folder from my bookmarks bar? What's going on? How to get sync to work properly? Is this a bug with Synchronization?

Today I turned on "Sync Everything" and it synchronized my Bookmarks with an earlier version of my Bookmark list. In some folders, some bookmarked websites are missing, some things I've removed from my bookmarks have appeared again. Weirdly some Folders (and their contents) I've created not that long ago have stayed, so it seems to be not that consistent.

I doubt it but, would there be any way to recover my old Bookmark Bar before I synchronized everything?
Thinking about it, I'm not completely sure if anything is missing, some things just seem to be out of order, but if there is a way to revert this "sync incident" it would be great.

Sorry, I don't have any better solution by now, but I'd like to support your request because I have had similar problems on various occasions:
when synchronizing, it went the wrong way: it did not update the stored bookmarks with the new ones but removed the new bookmarks on the computer, so the former version was restored on it (although adjusted the "right way" round in Settings).
It happened too many times so I don´t consider synchronizing a safe process on Opera. It might function sometimes but I think it´s better to have your bookmarks exported and stored.

I recently needed to wipe my drive after my PC got stuck in a startup loop (tried 100 different things to fix before wiping to no avail). I put the drive into a different PC, backed up my Users and both Program Files folders to a drive before wiping. I have put it back on this PC now that it's working. Installed GX and signed in. I was thinking signing in would have brought back my bookmarks and pws especially with sync on with GX on phone but I'm not seeing anything. What am I missing here? I read that it could be in AppData/Roaming but despite the backup having AppData it doesn't have a roaming folder just Local for which it DOES have an opera folder inside. Please let me know what I can do I had hundred of passwords and bookmarks before this it would be a shame to lose them. Thank you for any help.
