It does indeed happen, not only with Opera but also with Edge, that an update can rewrite the shortcut without the command line modification, but I'm used to that and immediately go to the rewritten shortcut icon and re-edit to put back the extra command.

Final solution for me has been to move to Vivaldi.

Vivaldi requires a second password for syncing data, which is annoying, but I can live with that. Typing my search words and pressing enter, only to see Opera browser doing something I didn't intend--just because my selection bar was placed on some random option suggested by Opera while I was typing--is unacceptable. Why do I use a computer? Because machines do only what I tell them to do--not Opera.

Yes!! :))) You did it, mr Wonderboy! You solved it. Thanks ever so much! You saved my day. Now I do:

cd C:"Program Files"\Opera
launcher.exe --disable-web-security --disable-site-isolation-trials --user-data-dir="c:\insecurebrowserdata"

And it works again as before. Can't believe how lucky I am :). It's indeed a Chromium issue: I tried Chrome and it's exactly the same thing. I feared that the guys at Opera had disabled this OH so useful feature.
