Recently, while reading issue 37 of the Standart magazine, I discovered the existence of naturally occurring low caffeine coffee. That immediately sparkled some interest in me, since I enjoy drinking coffee, but I don’t want to drink too much caffeine.

When I started drinking more milk-based coffee beverages, I used to always be in awe when I got a cup with latte art on it. So it won’t come as any surprise that since I purchased my first espresso machine, I have been attempting at doing it myself. I must say: the journey has not been the easiest.

I’ve rarely bought magazines in my life, let alone subscribe to them. Recently, however, I learned about the Standart magazine, a print magazine that focus on the world of coffee culture. I felt compelled to try it out, and, luckily, they have a trial subscription.

Around a year and a half ago, I wrote about my espresso setup at the time. This setup has remained almost the same during the last year, except for a few things here and here. More recently, we upgraded our coffee machine, which prompted me to write an updated post and spill the te- coffee ☕️.

At the beginning of last year, I shared about my filter coffee setup at home. The then current setup was composed by a family of four: the Clever Dripper, the French Press, the Chemex, and the AeroPress. Every device with its own use. It’s been more than a year and a half, and the family has now welcomed a new member: the V60.

Saturday we participated in a home barista training session at the headquarters of Lucifer Coffee Roasters, here in Eindhoven. That’s also where they roast their beans. I was quite looking forward to it and I’m very glad I joined. It gave us the opportunity to learn more about the world of espresso, and do our first ☕️ cupping.

A few days ago, I wrote a bit about our filter coffee setup. I also promised I would come back and write a bit about the espresso setup. Here we are! Today I’ll share a bit about our espresso coffee ☕️ setup. There aren’t that many things to note, but it can be interesting.

Doing a quick search on my website yields almost no results for “coffee”. And I find it quite strange that I’ve never talked about coffee here, especially during the past two years. During the past two or three years, I went from basically not drinking any coffee to buying filter coffee equipment, to now owning an espresso machine. Today I want to focus on filter coffee.
