Hello and thanks for the ask!

Ideas yes, always!

In the making? No haha, most are in the stage of "this is something I/we'll make when I/we have the time and energy".

One that is a little farther along is my personal project Black Label, which is in the "thinking about it, scribbling out concepts, fleshing out ideas and rewriting simple outlines" stage. It's pretty different tonally from any of the games we've released so far though.

Mainly we want to get the 3 Seasons DLC out of the way (slow going as it is) so that we can have a blank slate to focus on new projects.

After 3 years (and 1 day to the anniversary of the game’s original release), I’ve just released a quality of life update for Halloween Scrooge!

If you’re looking for a free, short and cozy amaregame to play featuring Handsome ghosts to flirt with, HalloweenScrooge is just that!

Story:

October 30th: You’ve just moved to Ravenville, and Halloween is the last thing on your mind, even if it seems like your new town is obsessed with it. You decide you’ll skip the festivities this year as you settle into your new home, expecting teenagers to welcome you to the neighbourhood by egging your house and toilet-papering your trees, per Devil’s Night tradition. Instead, you get a visit from 3 handsome Halloween Ghosts, who try to convince you to stop being a scrooge and give the holiday a chance. Will they convince you that it’s worth getting in the Halloween spirit after all? Or will you just spend the entire time trying to flirt with them?

“I’m fine, thanks to you. Are you a seasonal spirit or a guardian angel?”

“I’m more than willing to be your guardian angel if it keeps you from dying early. I happen to enjoy seeing your smile.”

Oh boy. The other seasons weren’t kidding about him.

“So you’re just following me around?”

He lets out a laugh at that, as if it’s the most absurd thing he’s ever heard.

“I don’t have that kind of time, sweetheart. I just happen to be a regular at your cafe.”

He gestures down the street at the shop I just left. I raise a quizzical eyebrow, taking in his striking green and pink hair.

“Huh. I’ve never seen you there. And I go there all the time.”

“I know. When you were job-hunting, you’d get lost in your own world staring at your little laptop in the corner. It makes sense that you didn’t notice the breathtakingly handsome spirit a few tables over.”

He takes a step towards me, closing enough distance to force me to raise my gaze to meet his eyes.

“But I noticed you.”

Written for warmups as vanade jumps back into outlining Briar’s route! Text versions included as image descriptions on each picture, and included below the cut.

Holding your hand: Yuto Edition

Yuto reaches for your hand with hesitance—even now that you’re together—as if he’s afraid to let himself touch you… Afraid his cool skin might make you flinch away instinctively. He knows you don’t mind, but it’s a tough habit to break. You find it cute though, how his pinky finger interlocks with yours in quiet silence, wordlessly seeking your consent. You don’t need to look at him to know his gaze is averted, the tips of his ears flushed a soft pink, peaking out from his long white hair. You slip your hand into his, intertwining your fingers with a gentle squeeze. He returns your gesture with a firmer grip, the way you’d hold on to something precious you dare not lose.

Holding your hand: Sol Edition

Sol’s hand finds yours with such natural confidence. His palm is rough from constant time spent outdoors, and his lightly calloused thumb runs over the back of your hand unconsciously even as he chatters at you about something irrelevant. He tugs you along like an excited kid, his grip sometimes loosening in his excitement to show you things. Every now and then though, something he sees or says will remind him of you—you catch the glint of affection in his eyes as he squeezes your hand, a silent gesture of gratitude that you’re with him.

Holding your hand: Rye Edition

Rye’s fingers intertwine with yours slowly, assuredly. He enjoys this act and display of intimacy: the symbolism of your bond through physical touch. He doesn’t hesitate in the slightest… if anything, his slow and deliberate gesture loudly signals his confidence and his love of romantic actions. It’s his own way of communicating to you the thrill and happiness that being in love with you has given him… the ability to shower affection on his own special someone.

We finally spruced up our Itch.io page after about… 3 years of procrastinating! We hope it’s much easier on the eyes now.

We also opened a bluesky account! We’re not quite sure how active the dev scene is over there yet and we’ll still mostly be posting here and on the hellsite known as twitter/x but it’s always good to have options!

In terms of other updates, we’re writing up a brief devlog update for 3 Seasons + 1.

Hello everyone! A little update is in order on our end I think! Read it below the cut.

Though we were hoping for a Spring 2023 update, that obviously did not go according to plan. Life overwhelmed us with work/school obligations, you know how it goes!

We are still committed to releasing the update this year though, and sometime this summer at that. I don’t think a day goes by where I don’t agonize over getting it out there.

All of our outlines are just about finalized as you can see above.
I’m especially excited to add Briar’s route to the game; his will play a little differently than the others but I think that’ll make it extra special.

Gonna wrap this up by saying we really appreciate anyone who has reached out to check up on our progress/express their excitement for the DLC. I think I can speak for a lot of other devs when I say that encouragement goes a long way as motivation when you’ve got your head down in development thinking “maybe people have moved on/aren’t really waiting for this.”

Oh, and I should mention that if twitter dies, we’ll still be using this tumblr for updates (hoping to make a habit of posting more devlogs here as we ramp up work on different parts of the game).

So in halloween scrooge during Jak’s part a little girl can see us during it even tho she shouldn’t, her and Ivy (3Seasons) have the same-ish eye color i think? Is Ivy the little girl and got a mini redesign for 3 seasons or did I make this all up in my head (i actually don’t really remember that much of the little girl tho i just kinda vaguely remember)

The similarity is wholly coincidental I'm afraid! Pirate girl was designed suuuuper last minute for Halloween Scrooge and apparently I have a preference for orange or brown eye colours LMAO

BUT
there were other Halloween Scrooge easter eggs in 3 Seasons that went unnoticed :D For example, as pressed as we were for time during development, we found a creative way to fill in the paintings of Yuto's winter spirit predecessors... Jak's sprite!

And in Rye's office if you look closely you might recognize a familiar neighbourhood in one of the paintings...

Sometimes you've just gotta find ways to add details!
