Recovering from an illness and feeling stuck in her life, Ari decides to take a trip to Mount Awareness in the hopes that reaching the peak will shift her perspective. 

Haiku Hike is a poetic adventure created for the 2026 Unlikely Collaborators jam. Hike the mountain, meet fellow hikers, and solve puzzles to clear out the brain fog so you can write haiku about the awe-inspiring beauty of the mountain. 

Controls:

Move Ari around the worldUse the Arrow keys or WASD
Interact with object and characters
You will notice a glow on some objects, move neraby and press Space or E or F or C or J.
Move puzzle pieces and wordsWhen in puzzles or writing haikus Click and drag with the left mouse button.

Fullscreen mode is recommended. Use the icon on the lower right of the game to enter and the ESC key to return to this page.

Hints:

  • Puzzles contain words. We tried to make meaningful choices in the words shown but currently shaping the shapes of the pieces is sufficient to solve a puzzle.
  • Currently there is no enforcement of haiku rules, feel free to express yourself!

The graphics are truly beautiful, and the music is relaxing. It’s too hard for me (my English is very poor). How do you plan to replace the WASD controls with mouse clicks so that the game can also be played on a smartphone or only with mouse?

Thanks for playing. I experimented with some movement similar to old-school point-and-click adventure games. Getting the plane intersection logic working was easy in our case since the current levels are flat (something we are looking to change a little). I need to spend some time generating navigation meshes (nothing moves, so a static mesh will work).
