Julia Argent x Gender Neutral Reader
[Authors Note: YESSSS I WAS SO EXCITED TO DO THIS!!]
It was supposed to be her break day. She had gotten up early, got some donuts, coffee, and flowers. On her way home, her pen started beeping. That could only mean one thing. Julia let out a sigh, clicking her pen and dropping it on the seat next to her.
“Agent Argent- I am fazing through the roof.” Julia nodded, her eyes still on the road. “Please Chief, take a seat.” The hologram sat down, looking at the driving woman. “I know this is rather sudden. Especially when we said you’d have a break today, but-“ The raven haired girl shook her head. “I apologize Chief, but I planned something important today. Something I can’t miss for the world.” It was true. She knew that her busy life was impacting the relationship she shared with you. You always said it was fine, and you stayed up as late as needed so you can greet her and make her dinner. But you deserved better, she needs to be there for you like you have for her.
“What could be more important then taking down evildoers? Agent Argent, don’t forget what you signed up for.” Her hands clenched the steering wheel with more force. “Don’t get me wrong, I am grateful for the job that was given to me.” Julia had gotten a glow up when it came to her confidence. She was still herself, but she was prioritizing what was important to her now. “But there’s other things I’m grateful for as well. My heart is in the game, just not this one.”
Chief took a moment to understand what her Agent was saying. It was a humble choice, to see her grow. “I understand.” She was so dedicated to the cause that she often rejected any romantic suitors because she thought it would slow her down. She couldn’t expect Julia to be the same. Perhaps the love she had was what she needed to be motivated. “We’ll send other Agents on the case.”
Julia looked at the hologram of her boss once she parked in the apartment’s parking garage. “Thank you Chief.” She grabbed the pen as the hologram disappeared.
You slowly got out of bed, tying your robe around your body. It wasn’t unusual for Julia to not be in bed when you woke up. She was an early riser, even on her break days. You made your through the hallway and into the kitchen where your girlfriend was. You smiled when you saw the donuts and flowers on the table. You ran over to her, engulfing each other in a hug. “Good morning, sweetheart.” You leaned your head on her shoulder, responding back with a simple, “Good morning.”
You loved Julia more than anything and it felt good to have a moment like this again. She always seemed so busy with her secretary job. To see her have a day off filled you with relief. She always seemed so stressed out, so exhausted.
“You know, you’re not the only one who had a surprise planned.” You said with a mischievous smile, causing her to tilt her head to the side in pure curiosity. “Oh?”
You took your phone out of the robe’s pocket, showing her the website with the large QR code in the center. “Oh my…” She gasped, putting a hand over her mouth.
Julia had rambled about the museum two towns over more than you can count on each hand. You had to book in advance to go such a place that had absolutely everything. Your wallet might be much lighter than it used to be but it was worth seeing your girlfriend happy. Little did you know that she had already got to go there for free due to a mission but she was still extremely grateful. From the first moment she was there all she could do was imagine what you would like about the place. “Thank you sweetheart.” She put both of her hands on your shoulders and softly pecked your cheek. “I wouldn’t mind if you wanted to go in your pajamas but I think it’s best if you get dressed.” You nodded, taking a donut then heading back into the room.
Meanwhile, at ACME headquarters…
The pens were a lot like cellphones, especially since they listened in even if there wasn’t a call going on. Chief and a couple of agents listened in to the conversation. Was one of them…sniffling?
“Agent Argent really has it all.”
“Well she worked hard for what she has. She definitely deserved the day off.
