Can anyone describe whether the connection to category theory goes deeper than the Category Theory Enters The Chat section? It seems like a rather tangential connection: category theory is simple, simplicity is good, ergo a good configuration language is related to category theory.
There's some discussion about semigroups and monoid homomorphisms, which is certainly also a useful property to have (but doesn't TOML have that too?), but it seems to use concepts from ordinary abstract algebra, not from category theory.
