Process for this piece

I’ve posted the drafts for this one before. The idea came when I was brainstorming for another piece. I save the sketches for it and kept tinkering with it until I came to something I like. Admittedly it was because when I was rewatching the show I saw an exact shot of what I like so ig I got lucky there lol.

I didn’t have a lot of process shots saved because this one was difficult to work on lol. I was struggling a lot with the values and there are still some parts I would’ve liked to rework but I think it’s best to call it a day haha. I did save the lineart and a wip screenshot though.

Process post for this piece.

  • Around mid season 2, I had the idea for a story about Claudia; it was going to be about her learning how to lucid dream and keeping a dream journal. In the end, the project was too big and I couldn’t connect all my vague ideas and put them down into something coherent, so I decided to scrap it. I still like some of the scribbles I made for it, so I decided to collect them and put them into a spread. The journal look is a nod to the original idea.
  • I used Jens Claessens’s pencil brush and sketchbook backdrop for this project. I also used some brushes from TGTS’s Chromagraph set, but the bulk of it is made with Jens’ pencil brush.
  • While it wasn’t a direct inspiration, I referenced Thomas Blackshear’s Intimacy for this part a lot.

Process post for this comic.

- i have a different comic that i drafted in february and the original plan was to finish that during my break, but i ended up getting sidetracked (as per usual) and did this one instead lol. in my defense, i was getting in a bit of a roadblock with the other comic in terms of composition/paneling, so i decided to do sth simpler as practice.

- the blue color of the comic is because i used that color during sketching and i liked the look and decided to keep it in the final.

- sketches of their clothes. kinda funny that i thought so much abt lestat’s shirt even though he’s mostly shirtless in the comic lol.

- when i was drafting the comic, i had the idea for a sequence before this where they talked abt claudia, but i wasn’t very confident in my writing and i wanted this thing to be sth simple that i could get done in a short time so in the end i decided to scrap it.

- i tried to keep everything consistent but because i worked on this in between my work tasks i kept forgetting what settings i used in the previous page lol i’ll nail down a consistent comic workflow eventually…hopefully…

"dollhouse" process

process post for this piece.

i was inspired by these photos of vintage dollhouses and also these really cute furniture illustrations.

i drafted the initial idea on my phone's notes app, then when I had time to work on it, i transfered the draft to photoshop and developed it some more. when i'm satisfied with the sketch, i applied perspective grids and started fine-tuning everything. i then add a multiply layer on top of the lineart to draft out the colors.

initially i wanted to follow the layout of the house exactly, but it did not turned out very good considering the composition lol so I changed it. i'm glad i did though because i think it looks better now.

researching about the house was really fun. i really really want to draw the townhouse again, such beautiful and intricate set design!
