Abstract

The invention relates to a top mount mechanism. The top mount mechanism is located at the bottom of a mixer, faucet, or tap. The top mounting mechanism includes the following parts: a top mount flange (2), a clamp plate (3), and connecting accessories, the connection accessories comprising a clamp screw (4) and guide pins (5). The top mount flange (2) and clamp plate (3) are linked via the connecting accessories. When the top mount flange (2) is fitted at the bottom of the mixer, faucet, or tap, a flexible hose passes through the top mount flange (2) and clamp plate (3) and connects to the mixer, faucet, or tap. The clamp plate (3) has a spring (13) to connect a spigot (7) and the clamp plate (3) together for lifting the clamp plate (3) to a vertical position to allow the clamp plate (3) to pass through a hole in a sink or bench top, returning to a horizontal position to clamp to the underside of the sink or bench top hole. The spigot (7) allows the clamp plate (3) to slidably move up vertically sliding along the guide pins (5) to fasten the top mount flange (2) onto the sink or bench top. Fitting a mixer, faucet, or tap to a sink or bench top can be difficult as under the sink or bench top is usually an enclosed space difficult to access with limited lighting. The proposed invention provides an installation mechanism for fixing a mixer, faucet, or tap to a sink or bench top, with access only required from the top of the sink or bench top.

Claims

1. A type of top mounting mechanism, the top mount mechanism fits onto the bottom of a mixer, a tap or a faucet body, the top mounting mechanism comprising a top 5 mount flange, a clamp plate, and a connection accessories characterised in that the top mount flange and clamp plate are connected h the connection accessories, whereby said top mount flange is fitted at the bottom of the mixer, the tap or the faucet body, a flexible hose passes through the top mount flange and clamp plate and connect to the mixer, tap or faucet body and the connection accessories comprises a clamp screw and a 10 guide pins, wherein the clamp plate has a spring to connect a spigot and the clamp plate together for lifting the clamp plate in a vertical position to allow the clamp plate to pass through a hole from top of a sink or a bench top, and automatically return to a ntal position to clamp to ide of the sink or bench top of the hole, whereby the spigot allows the clamp plate to slidably move up ally sliding along the guide pins to 15 fasten the top mount flange onto the sink or bench top.

The top mounting mechanism according to claim 1, wherein the clamp plate is formed with two pivot holes each side where a spigot end is fitted; the spigot having a threaded clamp screw hole at a center of a vertical axis, the clamp screw being engaged 20 with the clamp screw hole h the thread, the spigot moving up and down vertically sliding along the guide pin.

3. The top mounting mechanism according to either claim 1 or 2, wherein, the end of the spigot has two spigot guide pin holes, one on either side of the clamp screw hole 25 and the guide pins have opened-ends, the opened-ends being matched to the spigot guide pin holes.

4. The top mounting mechanism according to any of claims 1–3, wherein, the spigot or the clamp plate ses openings for the guide pins to pass through.

The top mounting mechanism according to any of claims 1–4, wherein, one end of the spigot is engaged with a cover plate, the other end is mounted with the spring via a spring hole at the spigot and a clamp plate end which connects to the spring also has a spring hole at the clamp plate end, so that the spring connects both the spigot and the clamp plate together.

6. The top mounting mechanism according to any of claims 1–5, wherein the top mount flange has a tap body locating pin on the bottom of a rim, where the tap body locating pin corresponding to a flange pin location on the mixer, tap or faucet body. 15

7. The top mounting ism according to any of claims 1–6, wherein the outer wall of the top mount flange has a least one groove, to accommodate a girth .

8. The top mounting mechanism according to claim 7, wherein the girth member can be either an O-ring or a plastic , the O-ring or the plastic sleeve sitting in a ring 20 groove. FIG. 3
