Abstract
vent assembly (9100) for a respiratory pressure therapy (RPT) system. The vent assembly includes: a vent housing (9320) having a first orifice with an annular surface around the first orifice configured to receive the flow of pressurized gas from the RPT device and the vent housing having a plurality of holes passing through the annular surface (not shown) to discharge pressurized gas to atmosphere; a membrane (9140) positioned adjacent to the annular surface; a vent housing connector (9160) having a second orifice configured to direct the flow of pressurized gas to the patient interface; a tube (9212) connected to the vent housing connector at the second orifice, the tube being configured to be connected to the patient interface to direct the flow of pressurized gas to the patient interface; and a heat and moisture exchanger (HME) comprising an HME housing (9400) and an HME material within the HME housing. The vent housing (9320) and the vent housing connector (9160) are configured to be connected to, at least in part, form a cavity, and wherein the HME is positioned in the cavity when the vent assembly is assembled. The HME housing (9400) is removably connected to the vent housing (9320) or the vent housing connector (9160) with a snap-fit. The membrane (9140) is movable such that the membrane is urged against the annular surface of the vent housing (9320) as the pressure of the pressurized gas within the vent assembly (9100) increases.
Claims (16)
1. A vent assembly for a respiratory pressure therapy (RPT) system to provide a flow of pressurized gas at a therapeutic pressure of at least 6 cmH O above ambient air pressure from a respiratory pressure therapy (RPT) device to a patient interface to treat a respiratory disorder in a patient, the vent assembly comprising: a vent housing having a first orifice configured to receive the flow of pressurized gas from the RPT device and the vent housing having a plurality of holes to discharge pressurized gas to atmosphere; a vent housing connector having a second orifice configured to direct the flow of pressurized gas to the patient interface; a tube connected to the vent housing connector at the second orifice, the tube being configured to be connected to the patient interface to direct the flow of pressurized gas to the patient interface; and a heat and moisture exchanger (HME) comprising an HME housing and an HME material within the HME housing, wherein the vent housing and the vent housing connector are configured to be connected to, at least in part, form a cavity, wherein the HME is positioned in the cavity when the vent assembly is assembled, wherein the HME housing is removably connected to the vent housing or the vent housing connector with a snap-fit wherein the vent housing further comprises an annular surface around the first orifice and the plurality of holes pass through the annular surface, wherein the vent assembly comprises a membrane positioned adjacent to the annular surface, and wherein the membrane is movable such that the membrane is urged against the annular surface of the vent housing as the pressure of the pressurized gas within the vent assembly increases.
