Abstract

breathing arrangement includes a patient interface which has a sealing arrangement including a mouth covering assembly and a nasal interface; a frame adapted to connect to the sealing arrangement, wherein the sealing arrangement has a common breathing chamber in communication with the mouth covering assembly and the nasal interface, and further wherein the mouth covering assembly has a membrane adapted to in use seal around the lips of a patient, and the nasal interface is configured to in use create a seal with the patient’s nares; and a headgear assembly to support the patient interface in a sealed position on the patient’s face, wherein the headgear assembly has upper straps and lower straps, wherein the frame has a pair of upper headgear connectors to connect the respective upper straps, and a pair of lower headgear connectors to connect the respective lower straps.

Claims (10)

WHAT WE CLAIM IS:
1. A breathing arrangement to deliver a breathable gas to the patient for treatment of sleep disordered breathing, the breathing arrangement comprising: a patient interface including a sealing arrangement comprising a mouth covering assembly and a nasal interface; a frame adapted to connect to the sealing arrangement, wherein the sealing arrangement comprises a common breathing chamber in communication with the mouth covering assembly and the nasal interface, further wherein the mouth covering assembly comprises a membrane adapted to in use seal around the lips of a patient, and the nasal interface is configured to in use create a seal with the patient’s nares; and a headgear assembly to support the patient interface in a sealed position on the patient’s face, wherein the headgear assembly comprises upper straps and lower straps, wherein the frame includes a pair of upper headgear connectors to connect the respective upper straps, and a pair of lower headgear connectors to connect the respective lower straps.
2. A breathing arrangement according to claim 1, wherein the upper straps are routed over the patient’s ears.
3. A breathing arrangement according to either claim 1 or 2, wherein the lower straps are routed under the patient’s ears.
4. A breathing arrangement accordingly to any one of claims 1 to 3, wherein the nasal interface is structured to create a seal at the entrance to the patient’s nostrils. JAWs ref: 503506DIVA7
5. A breathing arrangement according to any one of claims 1 to 4, wherein the nasal interface comprises a pair of nozzles which are each configured to interface with a respective one of the patient’s nares.
6. A breathing arrangement according to any one of claims 1 to 5, wherein the frame includes an inlet conduit structured to deliver breathable gas into the common chamber for breathing by the patient.
7. A breathing arrangement according to any one of claims 1 to 6, wherein the nasal interface is flexibly connected to the mouth covering assembly to provide flexibility between the nasal interface and the mouth covering assembly and provide for movement and changes in alignment between the nasal interface and the oral interface.
8. A breathing arrangement according to any one of claims 1 to 7, wherein the nasal interface is applied to the patient’s nose without forming a seal on a nasal bridge region of the patient’s face.
9. A breathing arrangement according to any one of claims 1 to 8, wherein the nasal interface and the mouth covering assembly are integrally formed with each other.
10. A breathing arrangement according to any one of claims 1 to 9, wherein the frame at least partially defines a mouth covering chamber. 1 /58
