Abstract

Apparatus for generating a supply of air at positive pressure for the amelioration or treatment of a respiratory disorder includes at least one chamber, a blower, a first plate assembly, and a second plate assembly. The blower is structured and configured to produce a flow of air at positive pressure. The first plate assembly includes a base plate that defines a wall of the at least one chamber and an outlet end suspension to support the blower adjacent a blower outlet of the blower. The second plate assembly includes a base plate that defines a wall of the at least one chamber and an inlet end suspension to support the blower adjacent a blower inlet of the blower.

Claims (10)

Claims
1. Apparatus for generating a supply of air at positive pressure for the amelioration or treatment of a respiratory disorder, comprising: a housing forming at least a portion of at least one chamber; a blower structured and configured to produce a flow of air at positive pressure; a first plate assembly supported within the housing, the first plate assembly including a base plate that defines a wall of the at least one chamber and an outlet end suspension to support the blower adjacent a blower outlet of the blower; and a second plate assembly supported within the housing, the second plate assembly including a base plate that defines a wall of the at least one chamber and an inlet end suspension to support the blower adjacent a blower inlet of the blower, wherein the first plate assembly forms a separate unit from the second plate assembly.
2. Apparatus according to claim 1, wherein the first plate assembly includes at least one inlet tube that allows air to enter the at least one chamber and the second plate assembly includes at least one flow tube that allows air to exit the at least one chamber.
3. Apparatus according to any one of claims 1 to 2, wherein the blower is positioned in the at least one chamber and structured and configured to receive air from a second chamber.
4. Apparatus according to claim 3, wherein the base plate of the first plate assembly defines the wall of the at least one chamber and the base plate of the second plate assembly defines the wall of the at least one chamber first and the second chamber.
5. Apparatus according to any one of claims 1 to 4, further comprising a sealing lip along a perimeter of the base plate of the first plate assembly configured to provide a seal along an edge of the at least one chamber. 62
6. Apparatus according to any one of claims 1 to 5, further comprising a sealing lip along a perimeter of the base plate of the second plate assembly configured to provide a seal along an edge of the at last one chamber.
7. Apparatus according to any one of claims 1 to 6, wherein each of the outlet end suspension and the inlet end suspension includes a gusset portion configured to allow flexibility and relative movement to isolate vibrations of the blower and provide shock resistance.
8. Apparatus according to any one of claims 1 to 7, wherein the housing comprises upper and lower housing portions.
9. Apparatus according to claim 8, wherein each of the upper and lower housing portions includes interior slots configured to receive and support respective ones of the first plate assembly and the second plate assembly.
10. System for treating a respiratory disorder, comprising: a patient interface structured and configured to form a seal with a patient’s face; the apparatus according to any one of claims 1 to 9; and an air circuit to connect the patient interface and the apparatus.
