Abstract
The present invention provides a method for treating behavioral and psychological symptoms in patients with dementia comprising administering an effective dose of pure 5-HT6 receptor antagonist and acetylcholinesterase inhibitor or NMDA receptor antagonist. The present invention also relates to a pharmaceutical combination comprising pure 5-HT6 receptor antagonist and acetylcholinesterase inhibitor or NMDA receptor antagonist, in particular for treating behavioral and psychological symptoms in patients with dementia. The present invention further provides use of the said compounds in the manufacture of a medicament, and a pharmaceutical composition comprising the said compounds intended for the treatment of disorders described herein.
Claims (18)
1. Use of masupirdine, or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof and an acetylcholinesterase inhibitor or NMDA receptor antagonist in the manufacture of medicament for the treatment of agitation/aggression, delusions, 5 inations, or delusions and hallucinations in a patient with dementia, wherein the acetylcholinesterase inhibitor is donepezil, or a pharmaceutically able salt thereof; and the NMDA receptor antagonist is memantine or a ceutically acceptable salt thereof.
2. The use of claim 1, n the pharmaceutically acceptable salt of 10 masupirdine is dimesylate monohydrate.
3. The use of claim 1, wherein the acetylcholinesterase inhibitor is zil hydrochloride.
4. The use of claim 1, wherein the NMDA receptor antagonist is memantine hydrochloride. 15
5. The use of claim 1, wherein the medicament comprises an effective dose of masupirdine dimesylate monohydrate and donepezil hydrochloride.
6. The use of claim 1, wherein the medicament comprises an ive dose of masupirdine dimesylate drate and memantine hydrochloride.
7. The use of any one of claims 1 to 6, wherein the dementia is selected from 20 Alzheimer’s disease dementia, dementia associated with phrenia, Parkinson’s disease dementia, Lewy body dementia, vascular dementia, or frontotemporal dementia.
8. The use of claim 1, wherein the medicament is for the treatment of agitation/aggression, delusions, hallucinations, or delusions and inations 25 in a patient with Alzheimer’s disease dementia.
9. The use of claim 1, wherein the medicament is for the treatment of agitation/aggression, delusions, hallucinations, or delusions and hallucinations in a patient with Parkinson’s disease dementia.
10. The use of claim 1, wherein the medicament comprises 25 mg to 125 mg of rdine or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof. 5
11. The use of claim 1, wherein the medicament comprises 25 mg to 75 mg of masupirdine or a ceutically acceptable salt f.
12. The use of claim 1, wherein the ment comprises 75 mg to 125 mg of masupirdine or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof.
13. The use of claim 1, wherein the medicament comprises 50 mg or 100 mg of 10 masupirdine or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof.
14. The use of claim 1, wherein the medicament comprises 5 mg to 25 mg of donepezil or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof.
15. The use of claim 1, wherein the medicament comprises 5 mg to 30 mg of memantine or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof. 15
16. The use of any one of claims 1 to 15, wherein the medicament is to be stered to the patient by oral, nasal, local, or parenteral .
17. The use of any one of claims 1 to 15, wherein the medicament is to be administered to the patient one to three times per day, one to three times per week, or one to three times per month. 20
