Abstract
Docking devices for docking a prosthetic valve at a native valve of a heart can include a coiled docking anchor and a retrieval suture. The docking device and retrieval suture can be configured for improved retention and retrieval of the docking device after deployment. The docking devices can have an end portion with a central axis. The retrieval suture can be connected to the end portion such that a line of force applied by applying tension to the retrieval suture is substantially aligned with the central axis.
Claims (15)
1. A docking device for docking a prosthetic valve at a native valve of a heart, comprising: a coil extending along a central axis from a proximal end portion to a distal end portion, including a leading turn, a central region, and a stabilization turn, wherein: a diameter of the leading turn is greater than a diameter of the stabilization turn, and the stabilization turn extends from a proximal end of the central region, the diameter of the stabilization turn being greater than a diameter of the central region; and a proximal connection end disposed at the proximal end portion of the coil, the proximal connection end having an opening formed therein, the opening configured to receive a retrieval line of a delivery catheter, wherein the opening is formed in a curved portion of the proximal connection end and wherein the proximal connection end includes a narrower, neck portion arranged distal to the curved portion.
2. The docking device of claim 1, wherein an outer width of a portion of the proximal connection end comprising the opening is greater than a thickness of the proximal end portion of the coil, the outer width and thickness measured in a direction perpendicular to the central axis of the coil.
3. The docking device of claim 1, wherein the proximal connection end is a cap attached to the proximal end portion of the coil.
4. The docking device of claim 3, wherein the cap provides the neck portion disposed distal to a proximal portion of the cap that forms the opening, and wherein the neck portion is narrower than the proximal portion of the cap.
5. The docking device of claim 4, wherein the neck portion includes an inner bore configured to receive the proximal end portion of the coil therein.
6. The docking device of claim 4, wherein the neck portion includes a slot configured to receive a suture to connect the cap to the proximal end portion of the coil.
7. The docking device of claim 6, wherein a length of the slot extends in a direction parallel to a central axis of the proximal end portion of the coil. AH26(45643544_1):BJM
8. The docking device of claim 1, wherein the coil further includes an extension region spacing the stabilization turn apart from the central region, the extension region extending vertically between the first end of the central region and the stabilization turn.
9. The docking device of claim 1, wherein the proximal end portion of the coil is a proximal end portion of the stabilization turn.
10. The docking device of claim 1, wherein the proximal connection end is configured such that, when the retrieval line is connected to the opening, the retrieval line will be biased to cause a line of force applied by tension to the retrieval line to be aligned with a central axis of the proximal end portion of the coil at the proximal connection end.
11. A docking device for docking a prosthetic valve at a native valve of a heart, comprising: a coil extending along a central axis, including a leading turn, a central region, and a stabilization turn, wherein: the central region possesses at least one central turn defining a central turn diameter; the leading turn extends from a distal end of the central region and has a diameter greater than the central turn diameter; the diameter of the leading turn is greater than a diameter of the stabilization turn; and the stabilization turn extends from a proximal end of the central region, the diameter of the stabilization turn being greater than the central turn diameter; and a cap attached to a proximal end portion of the coil, the cap including an opening formed therein, the opening configured to receive a retrieval member of a delivery catheter.
12. The docking device of claim 11, wherein the cap includes a neck portion and a proximal portion positioned proximal to the neck portion, the proximal portion forming the opening, and wherein the proximal portion of the cap has a curved end, the curved end positioned opposite an end of the proximal portion that connects to the neck portion.
13. The docking device of claim 12, wherein the neck portion is narrower than the proximal portion of the cap forming the opening and includes an inner bore configured to receive the proximal end portion of the coil therein.
14. The docking device of claim 12, wherein the neck portion includes a slot configured to receive a suture to connect the cap to the proximal end portion of the coil. AH26(45643544_1):BJM

The docking device of claim 11, wherein the coil further includes an extension region spacing the stabilization turn apart from the central region, the extension region extending vertically between the proximal end of the central region and the stabilization turn.
